A Scottish Registered Charity (SC048968) set up to form a local community based food larder to combat food poverty and to promote community development.

Lochee Community Larder & Café is a welcoming, inclusive space in Whorterbank, Dundee, offering free and low-cost groceries to anyone in need—no referral required. It bridges the gap between foodbanks and supermarkets, promoting dignity, choice, and community ownership. Members can select items that suit their needs, fostering empowerment and reducing stigma. The adjoining café provides a warm, sociable environment with hot drinks, snacks, and access to support services like energy advice, welfare rights, and Citizens Advice. It’s more than a food hub—it’s a place of connection, compassion, and practical support for the Lochee community.

If anyone has some spare bags...ideally sturdy ones that they want to donate to us that would be fantastic.

It would also ensure good karma would come your way!

We would like to say a massive thank you to the family of the late Mark Alexander who have made a donation in his name to the Larder.

Their kindness and generosity at this sad time is very much appreciated.

Thank you

It's cold so wrap up warm in case there is a queue. We have a lot of various fillings of Pukka Pies...they also freeze well. We have pizza, chicken, and good old venison. There is also juice on Sam's deals and, if you feel festive, there are mincemeat pies. Open from 11 until 1.

It's the Over 65s cafe today. Come on in between 11and 1 and have a cuppy, a blether and bit of cake.

You can also speak to us about getting a benefit check and, if you have a pre payment meter in your house how you could get up to £147 free heating!!

We look forward to seeing you.....and tell you pals.

But it's strictly over 65.....no young ains!! 😄
