Lochee Community Larder & Café SCIO A Scottish Registered Charity (SC048968) set up to form a local community based food larder to combat food poverty and to promote community development.

Lochee Community Larder & Café is a welcoming, inclusive space in Whorterbank, Dundee, offering free and low-cost groceries to anyone in need—no referral required. It bridges the gap between foodbanks and supermarkets, promoting dignity, choice, and community ownership. Members can select items that suit their needs, fostering empowerment and reducing stigma. The adjoining café provides a warm, so

ciable environment with hot drinks, snacks, and access to support services like energy advice, welfare rights, and Citizens Advice. It’s more than a food hub—it’s a place of connection, compassion, and practical support for the Lochee community.

Great to visit the Threehills Community Supermarket as part of our work with Dundee Community Food Network yesterday! 💚

💡 A valuable afternoon of shared learning, new ideas and conversations about community work to tackle food insecurity across Scotland.

🚐 It was also great to see the Mobile Community Shop and learn more about the wider work happening across Glasgow.

Thanks to everyone at Threehills and Good Food Scotland for the warm welcome — we hope to host you in Dundee soon! 🤝

Hey all hope you have all dried up from yesterday's rain. We are open today and full stocked. We open at 11am until 1pm larder side, and 11am until 2pm for our cafe side.

❤️🤝🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 An absolute pleasure to meet Sam and the team at the Lochee Community Larder and Cafe, who do such an incredible and important job helping people across the community every single week.

The Lochee Community Larder and Cafe help tackle food poverty by giving people a helping hand during difficult times, while also creating a warm, welcoming space where people can connect, chat and support one another. Since being set up in 2019, the larder has become a real staple of the community and a lifeline for many local families and individuals.

I sat down with Sam to hear more about the work they do, the challenges communities are facing right now, and the positive difference the project continues to make in Lochee.

This is why I love what I do - getting the chance to meet passionate people who are making a genuine impact and helping shine a light on the amazing work happening across Dundee every day.
