As we approach another Childhood Cancer Awareness Month we are feeling very reflective.
9 years since Ruby’s diagnosis.
9 years since our lives changed forever.
We had never heard of in Sept 2017. We were oblivious to it at the time.
Walking onto a children’s cancer ward for the first time as a parent, seeing and hearing all of the children already on treatment… really is a baptism of fire. There is nothing like it. We would not wish it on anyone. Trying to make it seem completely normal and have fun in the playroom whilst always wondering if your child is going to die.
There was a point that we worried Ruby might need her leg amputated. That didn’t happen because it would have made no difference to the cancer spreading.
Then we worried about permanent disability because her foot and lower leg stopped growing due to the treatment.
We would have taken that all day long if it meant she was still here.
This CCAM, can you help us raise awareness and funds? Maybe join in the CCLG 100 miles your way challenge. Maybe sell some gold ribbons.
Maybe buy a wristband, pen or book.
Maybe do your own thing, whatever works for you 😊
There’s lots you can do, and as always, we appreciate every single person and every single penny that contributes to raising funds and awareness.
Thank you🎗️
