🩵 A very difficult goodbye to Itty Bitty Baby Things for Angels Wings Tayside 🩵
After a lot of thought, consideration and many tears, I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to bring an end to Itty Bitty Baby Things for Angels Wings Tayside, the baby loss charity I started after losing my beautiful son Noah in 2019.
Noah was born prematurely, and his loss changed me forever. Before Noah, I had already experienced the heartbreak of losing my beautiful niece Konnie in 2015, who was also born prematurely. These two tiny babies became the reason I wanted to do something for other families facing the unimaginable heartbreak of baby loss.
When I lost Noah, I knew that although he would leave an undeniable mark on my life, I wanted his little life to leave a mark on the world too — as much as I possibly could.
I wanted people to understand that baby loss doesn't just happen to some distant stranger. It happens to your sister, your friend, your neighbour, your colleague, your daughter, your family. Behind every statistic is somebody's deeply loved baby, and a family whose world has been changed forever.
That became such a huge part of why I started Itty Bitty Baby Things. I wanted Noah's name to mean something beyond the day we lost him. I wanted his short life to help bring kindness, understanding and compassion to other families experiencing something nobody should ever have to experience.
What started as a small idea grew into something I could never have imagined. In the early days right after burying my boy, I was a one-woman team — organising, collecting, packing, delivering and doing everything I could to make sure tiny babies and their families were remembered and cared for.
It became a huge part of my life and, most importantly, a way of keeping Noah and Konnie's memories alive.
So making the decision to close this chapter has broken my heart.
There is a part of me that feels like I have failed my son by ending something that was created because of him. I feel heartbroken, guilty and incredibly emotional even writing this. I've questioned myself so many times and wondered whether I should somehow keep going, going back to the way I did everything alone in those early days.
But after much consideration, I've had to accept that I cannot continue carrying everything on my own in the way I once did.
This isn't because Noah's memory matters any less. It isn't because the families we've supported matter any less. And it certainly isn't because I have stopped caring.
It simply means that this particular chapter has come to an end.
And there is one thing I want to continue indefinitely. 🩵
In memory of Noah & Konnie, I will continue providing tiny baby loss clothing packs to Ninewells, so that families experiencing the loss of their precious babies can still receive something made with love and compassion.
So although I am closing Itty Bitty Baby Things for Angels Wings Tayside, Noah's legacy isn't ending. Konnie's memory isn't ending. And the love behind this little charity isn't ending.
Thank you to every person who donated, supported, shared, volunteered, helped me, trusted me with your stories, or simply believed in what I was trying to do.
Most of all, thank you to every family who allowed me to remember their precious babies alongside my own.
I will carry every single one of them with me.
Noah deserved a lifetime, but I will forever be grateful that I got to be his mum — and I will spend the rest of my life making sure his little life mattered. 🩵
For Noah. For Konnie. For all the tiny babies who were loved beyond measure.
A huge thank you and appreciation beyond words for every single person and organisation who supported us in any way possible, none of this would have been possible without any of the love received!
Forever my reason. Forever my babies. 🩵👣
