The Roundhouse Community Hub The Roundhouse Community Hub is a welcoming space in Whitfield, Dundee — bringing people together through food, learning and community action.

Part of Signpost International, supporting local communities with global impact. Welcome to the Roundhouse Community Kitchen & Cafe! COMMUNITY KITCHEN:
Our Community Kitchen project started in February 2021 with the aim of helping to close the loop between food waste and food insecurity in Dundee. It is estimated that, each year in Dundee, over 26,000 tonnes of food goes to waste. In 2022 Dundee Foodbank gave out 15,249 three-day emergency food supplies to people in crisis. With so much food going to waste, no one should be going hungry. We gather in useable surplus food from local food businesses and transform that food into freshly-cooked meals to be given out by Dundee Foodbank and three local food larders. COMMUNITY CAFE:
Our café opened in November 2021 and offers a welcoming space where you can spend some time relaxing, enjoying tasty food and getting to know your neighbours. With its vibrant mural, zero waste tips corner and book swap shelf, we want to create a place where people can come to learn from each other. The café offers dishes made from the surplus food we collect as part of the Community Kitchen, as well as some old favourites like toasties and home-baking.

Our chef Michael's really come through with his original Yoghurt Cake recipe!

We are grateful to Felix (previously FareShare) for donating the 9kg (!) of fresh yoghurt used to make Michael's ideas reality🍰

Felix saves good food from going to waste by redistributing supermarket surplus to community groups like us.

🍂 OCTOBER HOLIDAY EVENTS 🍂

We are working with a new booking system for the events and testing it out over the October holidays.

At the moment all our events are fully booked and we have a waiting list, if you are on the waiting list and a space becomes available you will get a notification letting you know. If you have a space and can no longer make it please let us know as soon as you can so we can offer the place to someone else. If you do not cancel and do not show for the event all future bookings will automatically get cancelled.

We recently updated some information on our events so if you received an email saying the event has changed it is just to clarify details for the event. The dates, times and workshop are all the same!

☕ Our Community Café is open every Tuesday from 11am to 3pm. We've got fresh coffee, toasties, soup, and all kinds of cakes and pastries 😋

🌱The first Gardening Club of September gets underway on Thursday, 2:45pm to 4:30pm. Meet new people and learn new skills with our friendly team (our Community Kitchen uses the fruit and veggies for its meals!)
