Our Scottish registered charity supports children who experience difficulties and disabilities related to speech, language and communication.

Our aims are:
To help develop speech and language for children and young people — making sure every child can access quality support when they need it. To support families: children, parents, carers, siblings, grandparents — making sure everyone gains confidence, opportunities and key skill. To promote the rights and social inclusion of children — making sure families are informed and included. To be a key contributor to the Inclusive Communication national agenda — making sure the voices of children and families are heard. To be a reliable, effective and flexible source of support — making sure we are the best we can be.

🎃✨ A little more Halloween magic! 🧪🪄
Here’s a video of our fantastic night out at the Department of Magic with Edinburgh Chill Youth Clubs! From creating magical potions and enjoying the spooky atmosphere, these videos capture some lovely moments from our evening together. 🧟‍♀️🕷️💫

🧟🧟‍♀️ For this year’s Halloween event, our Edinburgh Chill Youth Clubs headed into the city centre to visit the Department of Magic for a magical potion-making experience! 🧪✨
Our young people took on the role of potion masters, crafting their own delicious, non-alcoholic potions and mocktail tipples. The session wasn't just about mixing drinks, everyone had to read through the potion menus carefully, figuring out step-by-step exactly how to use the ingredients and what order to mix them to get their concoctions to change colour or bubble up over the glasses!🍸🍻
It was great to see everyone coming together to enjoy the theatrical atmosphere and see the staff and young people helping each other read the steps and master their pre-chosen potions.
A few of our group came dressed in fantastic Halloween costumes adding more spooky fun to the night. 🪄🧹
It was brillant to get out and about together, exploring new places, sharing unique experiences and creating lovely memories as a group.
Thank you to everyone who came and made it such a memorable fun night out! 🕷️🎃

👻 We had a scarily fun time celebrating Halloween at our Fife Chill Youth Club this week! Our young people got stuck into a mix of Halloween themed activities that were great fun but also brilliant for building skills and confidence. 👻
🎃 Our group created some amazing pumpkin carvings with lots of interesting facial designs which really highlighted their individual creativity. Getting hands-on with the scooping and carving is a fantastic way to develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
🍎 After traditional dooking, we melted chocolate and turned the the apples into chocolate apples on a stick for snack. Activities like this are perfect for building independence and trying out different textures together.
🧻 We rounded off the session by playing Wrap the Mummy Game by racing to wrap each other from head to toe in toilet roll. It brought a lot of laughs while developing teamwork, communication and friendships. Taking part in these kinds of interactive, practical activities in a supportive environment helps our young people grow in confidence and social skills.
We all really enjoyed the spooky session and look forward to doing more of these types of activities again. ✨

When children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) struggle to express themselves, they may feel frustrated, anxious or withdraw from others.

💛 What looks like misbehaviour may be a sign that a child is struggling to communicate.
