⚡️METER READINGS⚡️

As of Thursday 1st October 2026, energy prices will be increasing by 4%.

It is important for tenants who have a standard variable tariff to submit meter readings before this date to avoid being overcharged for September’s usage or incorrectly estimated on a higher rate.

Most tenants who have a smart meter will not have to submit readings as this is done automatically and tenants on a fixed rate do not need to worry about their tariff changing.

HEAT have been visiting our supported services to deliver some of our cosy items.
Our team was awarded funds from the Hillcrest Foundation to purchase fleece blankets, heated throws and hoodie blankets amongst other items to help keep our tenants warm this winter.

EMPOWER ABERDEEN EVENT

As part of Challenge Poverty Week, SCARF are hosting an event at The Music Hall, Union Street, Aberdeen on Wednesday 7th October.

Our advisors will be here from 10am - 2pm to give advice, support and any help tenants require with energy related questions and queries.

The Adult Winter Heating Payment will be paid automatically with your benefits if you get one of the qualifying benefits, or Pension Credit.

Recently, we were pleased to welcome Energy Action Scotland to our HQ to deliver the City & Guilds Energy Awareness training to some of our staff. This marks the first time the training has been delivered in person since the Covid-19 lockdown, offering a valuable opportunity for hands-on learning and collaboration.

Over three days, some of our staff including six Modern Apprentices, our Young Person Officer, and a member of our Social Wellbeing team took part in the sessions. The course covered a wide range of topics, from efficient heating and preventing heat loss, to managing household energy use, tackling fuel poverty, and understanding energy costs and budgeting. It also explored practical, low- and no-cost ways to save energy, alongside guidance on accessing financial support and grants.

By equipping our staff with this knowledge, we’re strengthening our ability to support individuals and communities to stay warm, manage energy costs, and improve their overall wellbeing.
