Our team in Calais has handed out a huge 54,000 hot drinks since July, and as the wet and cold starts to set in across northern France, our kettle is doing overtime.

You know the feeling. You arrive home soaked through, and the first thing you do is put the kettle on. But for refugees in Calais there is no home to return to, and no kettle to switch on. That’s why we will be keeping our kettle switched on throughout winter.

We’re now preparing around 1,300 hot drinks every day, across Calais and Dunkirk. Whether your preference is tea, coffee or hot chocolate, our team has you covered - all alongside biscuits.

🌱 NFI — NON-FOOD ITEMS. WHAT ARE THEY, AND WHY DO WE NEED THEM?

NFI stands for Non-Food Items — everyday essentials we provide to the men, women and children we support.

🌱 Demand has increased this year, and we’re struggling to keep up. We’ve run out of small bars of soap, nail clippers and nail scissors, while stocks of travel-sized toiletries are running low.

🌱 Buying these items in the quantities we need every day is costly, and we already have to limit how much each person can receive.

💚 But basic hygiene should never be a luxury.

🌱 Do you have unused hotel toiletries, spare soaps, small shampoos, shower gels or lotions tucked away in a cupboard, drawer or travel bag?

A small collection among friends, family or colleagues can make a BIG difference!

🌱 Every donation helps us provide these everyday essentials with dignity to those who need them.

Comment WINTER and we will DM you the link to buy winter kit for a refugee in Calais!

Winter is closing in on northern France, and thousands of refugees will spend it outside without warm clothing, and nothing more than tarpaulin for shelter.

Governments on either side of the UK-French border won’t offer them support. It will be our team in Calais handing out the coats, shoes and winter snug packs people need - but we need people to buy them first.

£25 buys a warm, waterproof coat or a pair of dry, sturdy shoes.

£15 buys a winter snug pack with a hat, gloves and scarf.

You buy them in our shop. Our team in Calais hands them out.
