❤️ How many hearts can we get for our newest donkey editions ❤️
Meet Tess, Minx, Gem & Pebbles – the newest members of our donkey herd! 🫏🥰
We thought we’d introduce them properly and share a little of their story…
Around 6 years ago, these four were part of a herd of 30 feral donkeys. Their previous owners took them in and gave them a safe place to live, where they have since been loved as pets.
Now they have joined us due to a change in circumstances to get the love, interaction and time they need to thrive and we’re so excited to help them settle into their forever home.
There previous owner is in contact and asks how they are settling in I’m sure he will be over to see them very soon 💙
🫏 Tess
Tess is full of sass and personality! She has a strange obsession with shoes (seriously, hide your footwear! 😂).
She’s quite nervous about being caught and having her head collar put on, and we can only guess that something in her past may have made her wary.
With patience, kindness, routine and plenty of reassurance, we’re sure she’ll learn to trust and gain confidence. She is a lovely donkey with a huge character.
🫏 Minx
Minx is the calm, sensible one of the group. She absolutely adores being brushed and would happily stand there all day enjoying the attention. While she won’t let the other donkeys push her around, she’s incredibly gentle with people.
She’s very relaxed when having her head collar on and is settling into her new routine beautifully. She was a little unsure about going into the shed during the rain this week, but she’s learning quickly and making fantastic progress.
🫏 Pebbles
Pebbles is Gem’s dad and a very proud one at that! He’s a handsome, fluffy donkey who loves a good brush and plenty of fuss.
He’s affectionate, enjoys cuddles, and is very protective of his daughter. If he thinks there’s any threat to Gem, especially from Buster, he’ll soon make his feelings known! Despite that, he’s a real sweetheart who loves attention.
🫏 Gem
Gem is Pebbles’ daughter and definitely has a cheeky streak! When she first arrived she was very nervous, but she’s becoming more confident every day.
She likes to stay close to her dad, but when food is involved all loyalty disappears! 😂 She’ll happily compete with everyone, including Pebbles, for the best snacks.
Gem loves attention and often headbutts us to remind us she’s there, although she’s still deciding whether being brushed is something she enjoys. We’re winning her over slowly!
💚 We can’t believe how well all four have settled in. It still feels strange looking out and seeing four extra donkeys staring back at us!
The best part is that our existing donkeys have welcomed them into the herd just as we hoped they would. Everyone seems happy, relaxed and content together.
