It has a mixed membership of men from all walks of life and differing backgrounds, all meeting as friends and Brothers. Generally, we are from the Dronfield village and surrounding area, but not all. We are all Brothers irrespective of race, religion, social status or background and we meet as
equals. Freemasonry is a fulfilling and enjoyable experience and Dronfield Lodge prides
itself on its w
arm welcoming atmosphere. We especially welcome new members and we hope they all come to love Freemasonry as much as we do. Joining the order is much easier than people may imagine, the essential two qualifications are that candidates must be over twenty one years of age and have a belief in a “supreme being” which for most of our members will be God, but we consider faith to be a private matter for the individual and we do not distinguish among religions. In addition to this they should be law abiding, kind, honest in business, courteous and polite in manner, have a sense of fairness and justice and be respectful and caring for the rest of mankind. These morals are important to us and we seek to instill them in our members. We do consider however that members are expected to put their families first, their business or
vocation second, and Freemasonry third. Our meetings are conducted with decorum and our rituals are taken seriously, to do less would be
letting everyone involved down, especially the candidate, but the atmosphere outside of the Lodge at
dinner, and moreover at rehearsal nights is fun.
