It’s Dementia Action Week and we have had so much to shout about. 🧡

Our wrinkly rave for Art of Age was back, as joyful and full of life as ever, and we’re so grateful to the Innovation Fund which helps make it possible. A big shout out to for being the best hosts !

On Friday we said goodbye to the absolute legend that is Laura Hardy 💛

After 12 incredible years, Laura is starting a brand new adventure and leaving Smart. She’s been such a huge part of building our charity into what it is today, making a real lasting difference across our community and touching so many lives along the way.

There have been so many moments of laughter, challenges, growth, and everything in between and we’ve shared them all together. It truly has been an epic journey.

Laura, you will be so deeply missed by all of us, but we are so proud of you and excited for what’s next.

Wishing you all the love and luck in your new role it’s going to be amazing just like you ✨

Last week some of our lovely group members visited Turner Contemporary , where photos of our Art of Age sessions, taken by local photographer Ross Wheatley, were on display as part of the Community in Focus Competition.

The competition invited charities, voluntary groups and CICs across Kent and Medway to submit images capturing the true meaning of community. And we think Ross captured ours beautifully. Described in the image as "a joyful reminder that art, laughter, and shared time can nurture both heart and mind at any age," which really does say it all.

We're so proud to see the work of this group recognised, and to have a talent like Ross shining a light on it. What a lovely thing to be part of.

🗓️ What’s on in April!
First things first, a reminder of our weekly group times. Please note we won’t be running groups over Easter, so this Friday, Saturday and Monday are not on. We’ll be back on Tuesday, so we’ll see you then!
Our monthly coffee morning has moved this month and will now be on Monday 13th April. Come along for a cuppa and a catch up.
Don’t forget, every Wednesday evening we run a free craft session here at the gallery, open to all women!
We’re also really pleased to have and back with us for a graffiti and street art exhibition, running from 4th to 19th April. It’s a brilliant show and well worth a visit.
Following that, .probs returns with his much-loved People of Dover work.
And finally, our Annual General Meeting (AGM) takes place on Monday 21st April, which the public are welcome to attend.
Lots going on as always. We hope to see you soon! 🎨
