We’ve just discovered these lovely people have chosen Archie’s Warriors as their cause for their epic Land’s End to John o’ Groats cycle and we couldn’t be more chuffed! Thank you Dorset Equine Veterinary Services and Graham! What an utterly incredible thing to do!

BREAKING NEWS: Local Men Mistake Midlife Crisis for Endurance Event 🚴‍♂️

Next week our vet Graham and a small group of (other) middle-aged men are cycling LEJOG — from Land’s End to John O’Groats — covering more than 100 miles a day for 8 consecutive days.

For context, that’s roughly the equivalent of cycling until your legs submit a formal letter of resignation.

Why?

A fair question.

The answer is Archie’s Warriors (https://www.archieswarriors.com/) a wonderful charity that helps create special memories and experiences for children facing long-term hospital treatment. While we’ll be battling hills, headwinds and saddle sores, many families face challenges far greater than anything we’ll encounter on a bike.

So we’re swapping comfort for lycra (a decision nobody asked to see) and taking on one of Britain’s toughest cycling challenges.

Over the course of the ride, we expect:
🚴 Several million pedal revolutions
🚴 An unhealthy relationship with flapjacks
🚴 At least one mechanical breakdown
🚴 Multiple emotional breakdowns
🚴 Discussions about whose knees hurt most
🚴 A dramatic increase in the sales of chafing cream

Medical experts agree that men of our age should stay active.

We’re not entirely convinced they meant this active.

Please support us as we attempt to cycle the length of Britain powered by determination, friendship, stubbornness and the more than the occasional bacon sandwich.

Every donation will help Archie’s Warriors continue creating precious memories for children and families who deserve every bit of support we can give.

And if you’re wondering whether we’ll make it…

Frankly, so are we.

Donate what you can. Laugh at us if you must, but please be generous and make a donation at https://www.archieswarriors.com/donate-to-archie-s-warriors.

I still think about the moment I said those words to Jack 💔
Telling him it was “OK to let go”.

I said it because I loved him.
Because I couldn’t bear the thought of him suffering or being in pain any longer.

But there will always be a part of my mind that thinks:
what if I hadn’t said it?
What if somehow those words changed everything?
What if staying silent would have meant he stayed too?

And I think that’s one of the cruelest parts of grief.
The way love and guilt become tangled together.
The way you replay moments over and over, searching for a different ending that never existed.
But that ache never fully leaves.

Maybe some experiences change you permanently.
Maybe some grief was never meant to be “gotten over.”

And maybe that isn’t failure.
Maybe that’s just being human.

There are days I cope well.
Days I don’t.
Days where the weight of everything feels manageable,
and days where it sits heavy on my chest.

I’m learning that being “ok” isn’t becoming someone who never struggles.
It’s learning how to live honestly with what you carry.

Because what does it even mean to be “OK”?

Maybe it means:
getting through the day,
allowing yourself to rest,
accepting your limits,
finding moments of peace between the hard parts,
and understanding that needing softness doesn’t make you weak.

I have accepted that i could never be untouched by what I’ve lived through.
I don’t think you truly heal from losing a child.
I think you learn how to carry grief and love together,
because the two never really leave each other ♥️

And if you’re struggling right now, hold on tight.
Be gentle with yourself.
Surviving this kind of loss was never meant to be “ok” ♥️

Two years ago today, our amazing Archie left us, leaving a huge, aching hole in our hearts that will never heal. The pain is there daily, but on days like this, it feels overwhelming.

I don’t know what to do with myself today, except visit him with the beautiful floral tributes from Granny and Granda Scotland, and from us. Thank you to everyone who has laid flowers for him.

Two years on, and somehow it still doesn’t feel entirely real 💔

We miss you every single day, Archie ❤️

We've planted 18 Mangrove trees in Mombasa, Kenya, following our RED FOR ARCHIE event, in collaboration with Ticketebo! Six of you opted for the paperless ticket option and a tree was planted on each of your behalf. Archie's Warriors then matched those six trees and Ticketebo then also matched those six trees - meaning there are now twelve planted in Archie's name! This is part of the Kenya Mangrove Restoration Project. Thank you! Please see here for more information

Ticketebo is a leading online ticketing provider and event registration platform for event organisers. Get started and sell tickets online today.

We are trying to contact Mark Kinder, who attended RED FOR ARCHIE and bought a raffle ticket. His number has been noted down incorrectly and he's won a prize. If anyone knows him, can they please ask him to get in contact with us? I did search on Facebook and messaged who I thought might be the person, but he hasn't responded.

The prize is the Goodwood Race Day Tickets and the date is coming up soon. If we don't hear from him, then we will redraw that prize on Sunday this week.
Many thanks!
