We’ve just discovered these lovely people have chosen Archie’s Warriors as their cause for their epic Land’s End to John o’ Groats cycle and we couldn’t be more chuffed! Thank you Dorset Equine Veterinary Services and Graham! What an utterly incredible thing to do!
BREAKING NEWS: Local Men Mistake Midlife Crisis for Endurance Event 🚴♂️
Next week our vet Graham and a small group of (other) middle-aged men are cycling LEJOG — from Land’s End to John O’Groats — covering more than 100 miles a day for 8 consecutive days.
For context, that’s roughly the equivalent of cycling until your legs submit a formal letter of resignation.
Why?
A fair question.
The answer is Archie’s Warriors (https://www.archieswarriors.com/) a wonderful charity that helps create special memories and experiences for children facing long-term hospital treatment. While we’ll be battling hills, headwinds and saddle sores, many families face challenges far greater than anything we’ll encounter on a bike.
So we’re swapping comfort for lycra (a decision nobody asked to see) and taking on one of Britain’s toughest cycling challenges.
Over the course of the ride, we expect:
🚴 Several million pedal revolutions
🚴 An unhealthy relationship with flapjacks
🚴 At least one mechanical breakdown
🚴 Multiple emotional breakdowns
🚴 Discussions about whose knees hurt most
🚴 A dramatic increase in the sales of chafing cream
Medical experts agree that men of our age should stay active.
We’re not entirely convinced they meant this active.
Please support us as we attempt to cycle the length of Britain powered by determination, friendship, stubbornness and the more than the occasional bacon sandwich.
Every donation will help Archie’s Warriors continue creating precious memories for children and families who deserve every bit of support we can give.
And if you’re wondering whether we’ll make it…
Frankly, so are we.
Donate what you can. Laugh at us if you must, but please be generous and make a donation at https://www.archieswarriors.com/donate-to-archie-s-warriors.
