Members of the club are part of the organising team that put on the hardy half marathon that took place today.

Many other members turn out to support the event as Marshalls and volunteers in a number of roles.

This is a great community event put together by members of Riot ( Dorchester running club) Dorchester Lions, Dorchester Rugby club and Casterbridge Rotary club. A really good example of groups working together for a common goal.

Well done all concerned.

Dorchester Casterbridge Rotary Club was delighted to be able to join with the Friends of Dorset County Hospital in supporting the Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation.

Between the two organisations, we provided them with a new activities trolley. Rotary provided the trolley and the Friends provided a variety of activities, from reading and colouring to knitting and chess.

The aim is to support patients' wellbeing and help make their hospital time a little brighter.

11 Dorchester Rotarians (10 from Casterbridge and 1 from Poundbury) made the journey to visit Casterbridge’s twin club in Rennes, The Rotary club de Rennes du Guesclin.

We travelled to France on Thursday. Then accompanied by some of our French friends we went via the TGV (fast train) to Paris on Friday. There we visited the restored Notre-Dame Cathedral. Something that has been in the planning for a couple of years.

We had lunch on a river boat below the Effel tower, followed by a river cruise along the Seine. What a brilliant day. On our return to Rennes we were treated to a meal at the homes of the various very generous hosts.

Saturday was a visited a local historical tower with hundreds of years history followed by a celebration meal, to mark the Rennes club 35 years since its founding and the twinning between the two clubs for 33 years.

We had a visit to an amazing motor museum that just seemed to keep on giving, the time spent here could have been much longer as there was so much to see. Evening saw members of both clubs enjoying a regional speciality, crepes and cider at a local restaurant.

Sunday after a later start, members of the two clubs shared the wide ranging projects that fund raise and create strong community links.

The president of Dorchester Casterbridge Rachel presented the President of Rennes du Guesclin Cesar with a commemorative plate to mark our years of twinning.

A fantastic weekend, thank you to all the members of Rennes du Guesclin for their very warm welcome and generous hospitality.

We hope to be able to offer them some Dorset hospitality next year if they are able to visit us.
