A huge thank you to Jamie-Lee for helping shine a light on people facing hardship across Derry and supporting us in our work.

'Eligible households will be able to apply for the £100 prepaid card that can be used at heating oil suppliers.

Only ONE voucher will be available per household and will be for oil customers “at this time”.

Eligible groups identified as most vulnerable to increased heating oil costs include;

💫Households in receipt of income-related means tested benefits, namely Pension Credit, Universal Credit and Income Related Employment and Support Allowance.

💫Households in receipt of Disability benefits.

💫Pensioner households not in receipt of Pension Credit with income below £30,000.

💫Households on incomes below £30,000 and not in receipt of income related benefits.'

Ministers say only one voucher will be available per household and will be for oil customers "at this time"

⚠️ Paid early at Christmas? It could affect your Universal Credit.

Universal Credit is calculated using monthly assessment periods. If you’re paid monthly and your employer pays wages early over Christmas, two wage payments can fall into the same assessment period. This can result in a significantly reduced or even nil Universal Credit payment for that month.

If this happens to you, send a message in your Universal Credit journal or contact the UC Service Centre - your payments may be adjusted so you receive your usual amount.

Our Welfare Advice Team is here to listen, support and help you feel more in control of your finances.
