Did you know? Women are 27% less likely to receive CPR from a bystander than men.

One reason is that people can hesitate in an emergency, worried about inappropriate contact or unsure about performing CPR on a woman. Unfortunately, those precious moments can make all the difference.

To help break down those barriers, (Heart Of Foyle CFRs) Community Training Volunteers have begun introducing female CPR training manikins into CPR and defibrillator training sessions, helping make practice more realistic and improving confidence when it matters most.

The message is simple: when someone needs CPR, their gender shouldn't affect whether they receive life-saving treatment.

Saving a life should never be delayed by embarrassment. โค๏ธ๐Ÿš‘ ๐Ÿš‘ โค๏ธ.

Well done all ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Celebrating our incredible Community First Responders (CFRs)! This week marked the 5th National Ambulance Service Volunteer Awards, a milestone dedicated to honouring the selflessness of our local heroes.

Nationwide, there are approx. 5,000 volunteers across 350+ CFR teams giving up their time to support both their communities and the National Ambulance Service. When an emergency call comes in, these dedicated individuals are often first on the scene, providing critical, life-saving care in those vital minutes before an ambulance arrives.

But their impact goes far beyond attending emergency calls. Every week, our CFRs are out in the wider community, delivering local training and empowering neighbours to develop community resilience.

To all our volunteers: thank you for your unwavering commitment, your midnight calls, and your passion for your communities. You truly make a difference. ๐Ÿš‘โค๏ธ

A huge thank you to St John Ambulance Foyle for their support of the Northwest Girls Cup 2026.

We are delighted to have their experienced crew and fully equipped medical vehicle in attendance throughout the tournament this Saturday 6th June, providing essential first aid and medical cover for all participating players, coaches and spectators.

The safety and wellbeing of our players is our highest priority, and having St John Ambulance Foyle on site gives everyone peace of mind knowing that professional medical assistance is immediately available should it ever be required.

On behalf of everyone involved with the Northwest Girls Cup, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the volunteers and team at St John Ambulance for their commitment, professionalism and continued support of girlsโ€™ football in the North West.
