🌟 Tonight at Youth Start 🌟

Our Senior Session (ages 14–18) focused on an important and meaningful topic — Anxiety.
During the session, our young people explored what anxiety feels like for them, the situations and experiences that may trigger anxious feelings, and the different coping strategies they can use to manage and overcome these challenges.

Through a range of activities including icebreakers, group discussions, practical coping techniques, and reflection activities, the young people were able to: ✨ Develop self-awareness by recognising their own thoughts, feelings and emotions
✨ Build confidence in expressing themselves and sharing experiences in a supportive environment
✨ Improve communication and listening skills through group conversations
✨ Learn new coping strategies and techniques to manage anxiety
✨ Develop problem-solving skills by exploring ways to respond to challenging situations
✨ Strengthen resilience by understanding that asking for support and trying new strategies can help them through difficult moments.

At the end of the session, the young people evaluated what they found useful and shared ideas about what they would like to see in future sessions.

The feedback was extremely positive, with young people sharing that they found the information helpful, useful, and valuable. Many expressed that they would like to take part in follow-up sessions to continue building their understanding and skills around wellbeing.

A fantastic session with great engagement, honest conversations, and young people developing skills that will support them both now and in the future. 💙

🌞 Tonight’s Youth Start Session was full of fun, laughter and sunshine! 🌿

Our Junior Session (ages 9–13) started the evening with some board games, giving our young people the chance to relax, connect with each other and build important social skills.

Some of our young people also developed new life skills through our café activity, where they practised money management by making choices, handling money, working out purchases and understanding the value of items. 💷

With the beautiful weather, we headed outside into the garden for some energetic games including What’s the Time Mr Wolf, Parallel Tag, The Name Game and Guess Who. These activities helped young people develop teamwork, communication, confidence, problem-solving, listening skills and the ability to work together with others.

We also brought out the parachute, which was a huge hit! The group enjoyed games such as Cat and Mouse, All Change and Hogwarts, encouraging cooperation, coordination, turn-taking, creativity and trust while having lots of fun together.

It was fantastic to see everyone enjoying the sunshine, getting active and building positive friendships. 🌞

A brilliant session filled with new experiences, laughter and opportunities to learn and grow! 💙

🎭✨ A wonderful evening of Arts and Culture for our Youth Start Seniors! ✨🎭
Last night, a group of our Seniors from the Youth Start Programme had the fantastic opportunity to attend the Millennium Forum to watch The Grove Theatre Group’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar.

It was an amazing performance, showcasing the incredible talent and dedication of local people within our community.
A special thank you and congratulations, goes to Martin Mullan and everyone in the The Grove Theatre Group for putting on such a sensational show!! 👏⭐

Our young people had a brilliant evening and were able to experience the magic of live theatre, helping to inspire a greater interest in the Arts, Creativity, and Culture.

A huge thank you to the Education Authority for funding our Local Area Youth Provision and providing opportunities like this, which allow our young people to broaden their experiences, explore new interests, and engage with the arts.

A fantastic night enjoyed by all! 🌟👏
