It was lovely to get together with some of our wonderful volunteers yesterday and thank them for all they do for local people living with sight loss. From befriending, to helping out in the office, to fundraising, to being on our Board of Trustees, our volunteers make a difference every day for which we are so grateful. Thank you so much!

Have you ever felt like there's something missing in your life, or that you'd like to make a difference in your community but are not sure how?

This why not find out more about volunteering with Sight Support Derbyshire? We are desperately in need of people willing to give up an hour or so of their time each week to visit an older person with sight loss who just needs some company, and maybe help with small tasks such as reading letters.

Find out more by visiting our website (link in comments) or calling Fiona on 01332 292262.

"At 2 o'clock on a Thursday afternoon my doorbell goes and in comes my lifeline ... she has lightened my life"

This is just one of many comments we receive from older visually impaired people who are visited by one of our amazing Befriending volunteers.

This we recognise all our fantastic volunteers and the time they give to make someone else's life better. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts 🙏

A message to our volunteers - you are, quite simply, the best!

Every day, our volunteers give up their time to make a difference - and not always in the ways you might think!

Take Teresa who kindly came into the office today to spend two hours scrubbing and cleaning our returned collection boxes so that they are all sparkling and ready to be delivered out across Derbyshire once again to collect everyone's small change! It may not be a glamorous task, but without clean collection boxes to place in shops, pubs, cafes etc we would miss out on the £3,500 raised each year from these boxes.

Then there's Mark, who will this year fold around 4,000 raffle tickets for our summer and winter raffle draws! Without someone to fold the tickets, there would be no raffle and we would miss out on the £4,000 raised.

We have many other volunteers doing a whole range of roles and to every one of you we want to say a huge THANK YOU this
