๐Ÿ“ข Save the date: Wednesday 9 September is the National Day of Prayer for Schools 2026!

95% of young people aren't regularly in church, yet 99% of them are in school โ€” an incredible opportunity to reach them with the good news of Jesus.

As the new school year begins, we're calling Christians, churches, teachers and young people to unite in prayer for every school across the UK.

Get involved:
๐Ÿ™ Gather online or in person to pray
โฐ Pray through the school day with hourly prayer points
๐Ÿšถ Prayer walk your community or your school

Join us on 9 September.

Proud to play our part in a safer Derbyshire! ๐Ÿšจ

We had a wonderful time at the Emergency Services Event, organised by Derbyshire Police, which brought together around 30 emergency services and community organisations โ€” all showing the important part they play in keeping Derbyshire safe.

The Market Square was packed with police vehicles, dog handlers, Blood Bikes, a historic fire engine and Mountain Rescue. Inside the Market Hall, visitors could meet teams from St John Ambulance, Safer Neighbourhoods, Hate Crime and Cyber Crime, the RNLI, Air Ambulance, Victim Support and Street Pastors.

Our Street Pastors team really valued the chance to get involved, meet other organisations, and share how we care, listen and help people in Derby's night-time economy. ๐ŸŒ™

It was a great opportunity to celebrate all the different ways we work together to make Derbyshire a safer place for everyone. ๐Ÿ’™

A client at a recent Jubilee Debt & Advice Clinic could work with numbers, but not words. So one of our volunteers rebuilt his budgeting sheet using pictures instead, something he could stick on the fridge and use to know exactly what needed paying, and when.

That's the difference a bit of care and creativity makes. ๐Ÿ’™

Have you heard about SHAP? ๐Ÿก

The Single Homeless Accommodation Project, run with Derby Homes, gives people who've faced long-term homelessness a real chance at stability. 12 studio flats, a garden, a community space, and wraparound support from our team to help tenants manage bills, access the right services, and keep moving forward.

A quick story: Francis has lived at SHAP for 8 months. He's a wheelchair user who'd never managed to stay in accommodation before, but his health and wellbeing have improved so much that even his district nurses say it's the best they've ever known him.

That's what stability and community can do.

Great news for our city: Derby has retained its Purple Flag accreditation for the 13th year running, recognising it as a safe, well-managed place to enjoy an evening out. ๐ŸŽ‰

Our Street Pastors are proud to play a part in that, out on the streets every Friday and Saturday night, working alongside the police, council, and local businesses to help keep Derby's city centre safe and welcoming after dark.

Well done to everyone in Derby's Purple Flag partnership for another year of hard work paying off.

Here is a quick update on the works being done to our Safe Space toilets and showers. The work has been going smoothly and the end is in sight! Please continue to pray for peace as we see these renovations through.

Huge thanks again to Severn Trent for the grant from their Community Fund. Without them this work would never have been possible! If you'd like to get on board with helping us finish our fundraising for these updates, you can do so here: https://www.derbycitymission.org.uk/Appeal/donate-to-derby-city-mission

When Ali Abbas came to My Place, he was stuck. The debt, language barriers, and not understanding the UK benefits systems made it difficult to settle into his new home.

So we came along side Ali and helped him navigate the challenges; fixing his debts, setting up bills, accessing services, and building knowledge and confidence. We even got him a driving license and connected with the dentist.

Today, Ali has got a job, settled, and managing independently.
