Big news! We have FIVE new Street Pastors who have just completed their core training and will be joining our teams over the coming weeks. πŸ’›

We are so proud of each one of them. Becoming a Street Pastor is no small thing β€” it takes commitment, courage and a real heart for people β€” and these five have it in abundance.

Please pray for them as they head out onto Derby's streets for the first time. And if you'd like to find out more about joining the team yourself, head to our website. πŸ™

We wanted to take a moment this week to share something with you β€” a glimpse of what your faithful giving of your time and resources makes possible.

Paul came to DCM at a difficult point in his life. This week, after weeks clean, he told us he finally feels proud of himself. It has been a hard road: pushing through withdrawal day by day, using long walks and exercise to keep going when things felt impossible.

The support he found here made a real difference. DCM's Community CafΓ© gave him a safe place where he didn't need to steal food to survive. The My Place team walked alongside him with pastoral care, helping him take the first steps toward stability.

He described it this way: "I broke through the ice, now it's just clear skies from here."

Now Paul is giving back β€” volunteering his time with gardening and manual work at DCM. His transformation is a testament to what God can do in a life, and to what your generosity helps make possible each and every week.

Thank you for standing with us, and with people like Paul!

This week is Volunteers' Week, and we have so much to be grateful for. πŸ’š

DCM wouldn't be DCM without our volunteers. They give their time, their skills, and their hearts across everything we do β€” day and night, behind the scenes and on the front line, in ways big and small that add up to something extraordinary.

Some of our volunteers have themselves once walked through our doors as guests. That is not a small thing. That is the whole thing.

If you volunteer with us β€” thank you. What you do is felt every single day by the people we serve. πŸ™

And if you've ever thought about joining us, this might just be your week.

Daniel left prison trying to rebuild his life. Then a letter arrived.

Through no fault of his own, he'd fallen into rent arrears β€” the result of an admin error somewhere in the system. Without help, he could have lost his home, and everything he was working toward, almost before he'd started.

Our My Place team spent six months navigating Universal Credit, landlords, and endless phone calls to put it right. The debt is cleared. Daniel keeps his home. He can focus on his future.
This is what My Place is for. Read Daniel's story in full at the link below. πŸ”—

Daniel Tesfay (not his real name) came to our My Place team last November holding a letter from his landlord. He didn't know how he'd fallen into so much debt, and he had no way of paying it back.

We have some exciting news to share! πŸŽ‰

We are thrilled to announce that DCM has been awarded Β£50,000 from the Severn Trent Community Fund β€” and we are so grateful.

This incredible grant means we can finally begin work to upgrade the toilet and shower facilities in Safe Space, which have been well-loved and well-used for over six years. For the people who come through our doors at their most vulnerable, having access to clean, dignified facilities matters more than words can say.

Work is planned to start in early June! We'd love your prayers as we head into this season β€” that the work goes smoothly, that disruption to our services is kept to a minimum, and that those who depend on Safe Space continue to feel safe and cared for throughout.

Thank you, Severn Trent for believing in what DCM does. πŸ’™

Meet Max. 🌟

For the past six months, Max has been volunteering at our community cafΓ© - and he has already made a huge impression on everyone he meets here.

As part of his performing arts course, Max was asked to raise funds linked to his studies. He chose to make and sell handcrafted key rings, inspired by the immersive theatre piece he'd done as part of his studies. Through his creativity and hard work, Max raised an incredible Β£130 -which he donated in full to DCM.

In his own words: "I wanted to donate to the Mission. I see the people who come and go and I wanted to do something to help those who come through the Mission. The money will help the people we serve in Derby City Mission."

Max, thank you. Your generosity, talent and kind heart mean the world to us and to the people we serve. We are so proud to have you as part of our DCM family. πŸ’š

It's National Biscuit Day! πŸͺ

Biscuits might seem like a small thing - but here at DCM, they're everywhere. They're shared over a hot cup of tea in Safe Space. They're stacked on shelves in our Community Shop. They're passed around in My Place. They're part of how we say "you're welcome here" to everyone who walks through our doors.

So here's a thought - if you happen to be passing today, why not swing by with a packet (or two...)? Every donation goes straight to the people who need them most, and trust us, they will be very gratefully received.

Drop them in at 10 Normanton Road, Derby, DE1 2GW - and happy National Biscuit Day from all of us at DCM! πŸŽ‰
