Our Street Pastor, Mike, celebrated his 100th shift last Saturday! What a commitment!

A huge thank you to Mike for the time and dedication he has given over those one hundred shifts to helping people in Derby.

The Street Pastor team celebrated Mike's work with a card and small gift of thanks and appreciation🙏

Street Pastors are trained volunteers from local churches who provide a visible, reassuring presence for everyone in Derby City centre. We usually operate in teams of three or four and are out and about, prayerfully patrolling, between 10 pm and 4 am on Friday and Saturday nights.

🏆 Did you know that Derby’s Cathedral Quarter has been honoured with the prestigious Award? 🟣 This accolade recognises our area as a safe, vibrant, and welcoming place for everyone, day and night. It's a testament to the hard work and dedication of our local community, businesses, and authorities. 🙌
But what truly makes this achievement shine is the dedication of our amazing Street Pastors 🙏. These wonderful volunteers are the unsung heroes of our late-night streets. They provide a helping hand, a listening ear, and a comforting presence to ensure that everyone can enjoy our vibrant nightlife safely. The Purple Flag Award and our Street Pastors go hand in hand, creating a Cathedral Quarter that's not only thriving but also a safe haven for all. Thank you for your selfless dedication to our community! 💜
Let's continue to celebrate the thriving spirit of our Cathedral Quarter, making it a place we're all proud to call home. 🎉🏙️

The Street Pastors were out again on a Friday with special guest - Councillor Ged Potter (Mayor of Derby)!

Councillor Potter said: "Having been given an opportunity to join the Street Pastors, I joined Andy and the team walking the streets of Derby City centre on a Friday night. It soon became very apparent talking to door staff and members of the public alike the very high level of respect the Street Pastors are held in."

It was a privilege to show Councillor Potter the night-time economy. We introduced him to various door staff, collected broken glass from the area to keep people safe and handed out flip flops to those who were struggling to walk. We were able to bring care and dignity to those who were out enjoying Derby City.

"The team dealt with a first aid issue, cleaning up street debris and engaged with others who just benefitted from words of comfort and advice. It is a very comforting thought that these guys are out there giving their time for others. Bless you all for what you do, and you will definitely see me again.” Councillor Ged Potter (Mayor of Derby)
