We are open to youngsters aged between 9 and 21 (Cadets can join 9-17), and accept applications to join before the age of 9 for our waiting list.

Training will be split over training evenings, field days, some weekend camps and courses, and Summer Camp.

🌺 Marine Training Corps Derby – Spreading Remembrance and Kindness 🌺

During their holiday break, our dedicated Marine Training Corps cadets took time out of their holidays to visit the residents of Kiwi House Care Home and deliver poppies as a symbol of remembrance.

During the visit, our cadets and instructors were joined by Councillor Alan Lindsey, spending valuable time chatting with residents, sharing stories and answering questions about life in the Marine Training Corps.

It was truly heartwarming to see the interactions between our cadets and the residents. Watching our young people engage with such confidence, kindness and respect was a wonderful reminder that being a cadet is about so much more than training. It’s about building character, developing communication skills, showing compassion and giving back to our community. ❤️

We are incredibly proud of our cadets for choosing to spend part of their holiday break making a difference to others. These are the moments that demonstrate the values we strive to instil in every cadet: respect, teamwork, compassion and community spirit.

A huge thank you to the staff and residents at Kiwi House Care Home for welcoming us, and to Councillor Alan Lindsey for joining us for this meaningful visit.

Tuesday evening at MTC Derby unit

Cadets was working on drill in preparation for remembrance Sunday, along with four junior cadets passing there blue star dill assessment, well done junior cadets 👏.

Second half of the session cadets had a talk and a activity sheet on the meaning of remembrance and what remembrance means to them.

Thursday evening at MTC Derby unit

Cadets spent most of the evening out in the community, making themselves, as well as the residents along and passing through Boulton Lane, Alvaston, Derby PROUD.

Cadets enjoyed the public response while putting up the poppies.

Thank you to everyone that joined us and a big thank you to the cadets.

When we arrived back to the unit, junior cadets that are attending camp this weekend to work on their blue star fieldcraft, had a kit check ready before their departure on Friday.

Tuesday evening at MTC Derby unit

The cadets was practicing ready for remembrance parade, and spent the second half of the evening on command tasks and team building, while having a laugh and giggle.

🚑 Thursday Evening at Marine Training Corps – Derby Unit 🚑

On Thursday evening, our Derby Unit cadets took part in CPR and Defibrillator Training, learning vital lifesaving skills that could one day make a real difference in an emergency.

A huge thank you to Belper District Community First Responders for taking the time to visit our cadets and deliver such an informative and valuable training session.

At Marine Training Corps, we believe in giving our cadets opportunities to learn practical skills, build confidence, develop teamwork, and prepare for situations they may face in everyday life.

👏 Well done to all our cadets for getting involved and making the most of this fantastic opportunity!

🇬🇧 A MESSAGE OF THANKS AND RECOGNITION FOR MARINE TRAINING CORPS DERBY! 🇬🇧

We are incredibly proud and honoured to have received this letter of recognition from Calvin Bailey MBE MP, acknowledging the hard work, dedication and positive impact of Marine Training Corps Derby within our local community.

During the first-ever Cadets Week, it means a great deal to have our efforts recognised, particularly our recent community litter picks and the commitment shown by our cadets and adult volunteers.

At the MTC, we are passionate about giving young people opportunities to build confidence, develop life skills, learn teamwork, make lasting friendships and become positive role models within their communities.

None of this would be possible without our amazing volunteers, whose time, effort and dedication help make a real difference every week.

A huge thank you to Calvin Bailey MBE MP for his kind words and recognition, and to everyone who continues to support our unit.

Tuesday evening at MTC Derby unit, cadets covered Drill, standard bearing, juniors covered the basics of map and compass, while senior cadets covered advanced map and compass training.

Thursday evening at MTC Derby unit, cadets first lesson covered types of emergencies and how to deal with them, second lesson was hygiene in the field, kit and uniform maintenance in the field.
