🌟 This is a fantastic resource for disabled people! 🌟

If you ever feel unsure about visiting somewhere new or need to check accessibility in advance, this is an absolute game-changer
👉 https://www.accessable.co.uk/
AccessAble provides detailed, reliable access guides for thousands of places across the UK including shops, restaurants, hospitals, hotels and more.

These guides include real facts, measurements, photos and step-by-step information about routes, entrances, toilets, parking and facilities.

Everything is checked in person by trained surveyors, so you can trust the info and make informed decisions about where works best for you 👍

It’s all about giving people confidence, independence and removing that stress or anxiety when planning trips out 🙌
Definitely worth sharing, this could make a huge difference to someone you know! 💙

Learning Disability Week

Do You See Me?

Do you see the diagnosis first, or the person?

Do you see limitations, or possibilities?

Do you see someone who needs support, or someone who has dreams, talents and a voice that deserves to be heard?

This week, I challenge us all to look beyond labels.

People with learning disabilities don’t want pity; they want opportunity, understanding, inclusion, and respect.

See my smile… See my personality…. See my strengths… See my potential.
Most importantly…
See me.

💜 Do You See Me? 💜

Do you see my smile when I walk through the door? 😊

Do you see my dreams and the things I wish for? 🌟
Do you see my kindness, my laughter, my care?
Do you see me, the person standing there? 👀

I am more than a label, more than a name, 💜
I have hopes and feelings, just the same. ❤️

I want to be included, respected, and free, 🤝
To be valued for who I am and allowed to be me. 🦋

This week, we celebrate your voice and your light, ✨
Your courage, your strength, and your right to shine bright. ⭐

Because when we truly see each other, it’s easy to say:

💜 We see you. We hear you. We celebrate you, today and every day. 💜

This is great work and a really important opportunity to help ensure people with disabilities have a stronger voice in shaping local services and decisions.

If you’re interested in joining the Disability Lived Experience Group, or know someone who might be, please contact Aaron directly or send us a message with your email address and we’ll make sure the information is forwarded to you.

People with disabilities are still far less likely to engage with politicians or put themselves forward for elected office, and that is something I want to help change.

One of the first things I did after being elected back in 2023 was to bring a motion to establish a Disability Lived Experience Group, I want to make sure people with disabilities have a real voice at the heart of council decision making.

After a lot of hard work behind the scenes, I’m really pleased that recruitment for the group will finally open next week.

This group is about making sure that lived experience helps shape council policies, services and priorities from the start.

This will officially go out from council next week, but if you’re interested, or know someone who might be, please get in touch and I’ll make sure the information is sent directly to you as soon as it is released.
