A useful one to have a look at 👇
The Government has launched some really practical advice about being prepared for emergencies – and living in a rural village, some of it is probably particularly relevant to us!
And a lot of us will be 🙄 at the common sense of it, as basically it’s just thinking about how you’d manage for a couple of days if we had a prolonged power cut, flooding, bad weather or another disruption.
But we’re sharing in any case, as it’s a good reminder.
They recommend being able to manage for around 3 days, with things like:
🔦 A torch and spare batteries
🔋 A charged power bank
💧 Some bottled water
🥫 Food that doesn’t need cooking
🧣 Blankets/warm clothing
📻 A battery or wind-up radio
💷 A little cash in case card payments are down
💊 Essential medication
🐶🐱 And don’t forget food for the pets!
Probably the most important bit for a village like ours though is looking out for each other. Know who your neighbours are, swap contact details where you can, and think about who nearby might need checking on if the power goes off or the weather gets particularly bad. ❤️

Hopefully we’ll never need most of it – but being a little bit prepared never hurts. 😊
