Karis' Helping Hand

Karis' Helping Hand Helping children with Brain Tumours and their Immediate families, with days out, grants or a gift ❤️ She rarely complained and just got on with things.

Our daughter Karis passed away in September 2018 of a brain tumour, she was only 10. Karis had many other medical conditions and was poorly from a baby, spending her first 7 months of life in hospital. Then, at the age of 2, we found out Karis had an Aggressive Malignant Brain Tumour called a SPNET (Supratentorial Primitive Neuro Ectodermal Tumour) but in 2017 we were told that her tumour was in f

act called a ETMR (Embryonal Tumour with Multi-layered Rosettes), which was also aggressive and malignant. Karis had the tumour removed quickly and endured high doses of chemotherapy, twice daily radiotherapy (for 6 weeks) followed by maintenance chemotherapy for a year. Times were so hard and thankfully Karis’ tumour didn't come back for 5 years, but the treatment caused so many other medical, emotional and social problems throughout that time. As a family we just got on with it, we felt so lucky that after each scan we were told there was no evidence of recurrence and we had our precious Karis by our side. It was like living on a time bomb, but we tried to be positive and take one day at a time. Then, in 2018, our lives were shattered again as we found out Karis had another Aggressive Malignant Brain Tumour and after having a biopsy we was told the devastating news that this tumour (Glioblastoma Multiforme) was untreatable and unremovable, as it was growing like a te****le through her brain and not like her first tumour, which was round and was easier to be removed. Great Ormond Street told us that they couldn’t do anymore for our beautiful Karis, apart from a chemotherapy drug that may slow the growth of the tumour down slightly. As you can imagine this was absolutely the worst news any parent could hear, and we just couldn’t comprehend life without our beautiful princess. Karis was a poorly child throughout her ten years but loved life and wanted to just be with her family and friends. She was a beautiful girl inside and out and even though how poorly she was she worried about others and always wanted to help, even when she was so poorly herself. She had a fantastic cheeky sense of humour. Karis saw herself as lucky because she could do certain things that others couldn’t do. She was such a brave little girl that touched the lives of so many people, and we miss our beautiful darling Karis every second of the day. Karis is our inspiration in life, our hero and will always be. We always appreciated all the charities who helped us throughout our journey, and we feel as a charity ourself, we can now offer some relief to other families finding themselves in the same situation as we once were. We want to try to make life that bit easier and give what we can as a charity to as many families as we can. The objects of our charity are to preserve the health and relieve the needs of children, up to and including the age of 16, diagnosed with Brain Tumors, and their immediate families throughout the South-East of England in particular, but not exclusively by, the provision of grants/gifts; memory making days out, and; help towards everyday essentials.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to TMS Plumbing & Heating for their truly incredible support last year, and for their continued support of our charity.

On the 8th of August, they organised a wonderful charity golf day, followed by an inspiring skydive on the 16th of August by two of their amazing team members, Abby and Miles.

Together, their efforts raised an outstanding £2,269 which we have just received the final amount of through GoFundMe — a contribution that makes a real difference to our charity.

We are so grateful for your generosity, dedication, and kindness. Your ongoing support means the world to us, and we cannot thank you enough.❤️

Happy and healthy New Year to you everyone.
From the very bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing beside us throughout 2025 ❤️

Every single act of kindness, every fundraiser, every donation, every message of support — none of it goes unnoticed. You truly have no idea how much it means to us.

To those who help us fundraise, you know who you are, and we are endlessly grateful. And to everyone who has donated, thank you — your generosity keeps us going and keeps Karis’s legacy alive. We simply couldn’t do this without you.

As we move into 2026, we will continue to need your support. If you have any fundraising ideas, would like to get involved, or feel you could help in any way, please reach out. And if there are any businesses who would like to support us, we would be incredibly thankful.

We appreciate every single one of you more than words could ever say, and we always will.

Our beautiful darling Karis would be so proud of what is being done in her name. She loved to help others, and she had the purest heart of gold — that spirit lives on through all of you.

Please keep supporting us. Please keep believing in what we are doing.
It means more to us than you will ever know ❤️

Our beautiful Karis,

Today would have been your 18th Birthday, but you’ll always be our little 10-year-old. I wish, more than anything, that we could be together today, celebrating you ❤️

We think about you all the time, wondering what you’d look like now, what little things would make you giggle. We wonder if you’d still love drawing, colouring, and all the tiny creative things that brought you so much joy.

Life would have been harder for you, I know, but we all would have faced it together and I know you would have done it with the courage and strength that was always in your heart. You loved life so much, and you fought so hard to get better.

We miss you so much, my darling ❤️ Please keep watching over us, we hope we’re making you proud. My heart aches every day that you’re not here, but your courage, your laughter, your beautiful, pure heart of gold they guide us. You will always be our inspiration, our gorgeous girl.

Every memory of you is precious, every little moment, forever and always. We love you with every bit of our hearts, Karis, always have, always will ❤️

Love you our darling

Mum, Dad, and us all ###xx

We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of the amazing Alan Browne. It still doesn’t feel real — we were only messaging each other a few days ago. Alan has supported our fundraising efforts from the very beginning, and we are forever grateful for the help he has given us over the years.

He was such a kind and caring man, and it was truly our pleasure to have known him. Alan didn’t only help our charity — he dedicated his time and heart to so many others as well.

We are sending all our love to his family and to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest in peace to a truly lovely man. 🤍
