🌟 Mighty Girl of the Week: Laura Richards! 🌟

Our Mighty Girl of the Week is Laura Richards, who we were lucky enough to hear speak at the VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls) event in Marlborough last week.

Laura founded Paladin, the UK’s first national stalking advocacy service, and has played an important role in campaigning for changes to the law to better protect victims of stalking and coercive control.

It’s been a busy half term at Mighty Girls! 💚

We’ve run two fantastic workshops, full of energy and creativity with some amazing Mighty Girls!

Our Art of Being Me art and photography workshop gave girls the chance to explore their identities, recognise their own qualities and celebrate what makes them unique through creativity. We also ran an empowering Self Defence Workshop, helping girls build confidence and learn valuable skills.

MIGHTY GIRLS 💚 PREVENTION MATTERS

On Friday, our Mighty Girls team attended the EVAWG Wiltshire Coalition Summit, hearing from inspiring speakers including , and with Her Majesty The Queen also in attendance.

One message really stood out: girls should be able to focus on their dreams and futures, not on worrying about their safety.

Prevention matters. We need to help girls recognise unhealthy behaviours, encourage boys to become allies, and build a world where respect and safety are the norm.

We loved working with the students at St Gregory's as part of our Positive Relationships Programme.
Students created a striking "Kindness is Key" tree, using messages of respect, empathy and inclusion to challenge sexism and misogyny and other harmful attitudes.

A big thank you to Wiltshire Council’s Trowbridge Area Board for funding to support local girls in Trowbridge. 💚

This funding gives us the opportunity to offer fun, empowering activities to more Mighty Girls in the area — helping girls build confidence and feel empowered to be themselves.

Last week, we had the pleasure of delivering Building Respect: Tackling Sexism and Misogyny at the Wiltshire and Swindon Community Foundation Youth Partnership Team Day at The Old Town Hall Trowbridge.
Thank you to Kathryn Lazenby and Margaret Firth for the invitation and support. It was inspiring to meet so many dedicated youth work professionals working to create safer, more respectful and inclusive environments for young people. 👏
