A huge thank you to Keith Thomas and his friend, Angie, who raised an incredible £3,408 for Dorothy House at Keith's recent retirement lunch!

After retiring from Cyril H. Thomas Ltd, a car garage in Chippenham, Keith chose to celebrate the occasion by raising funds for the Hospice. Every pound raised helps us provide care and support to patients and families across our community. Thank you again to Keith and Angie, and we're all wishing Keith the very best for his retirement!

We’re excited to be launching our first Coffee Connection for Veterans this coming Monday 2 November at the Hospice in Winsley!

Coffee Connection for Veterans offers a relaxed, welcoming space for veterans, serving personnel and other members of the Armed Forces community affected by a life-limiting illness. Come along to meet others, share experiences, and enjoy a warm drink in good company – whether you want to talk about military life, discuss the challenges you’re facing now, or simply spend time with people who understand. We’ll also have Dorothy House staff and volunteers on hand if you need support, information or advice.

Anyone in the Armed Forces community affected by a life-limiting illness is welcome to join us, including veterans from all services, serving personnel, family members, loved ones, or friends and carers supporting someone with an illness. Drop in for 10 minutes or stay for the whole session – we'd love to see you!

Our first session launches on Monday 2 November from 1pm to 3pm and will take place on the first and third Monday of the month thereafter.

A huge thank you to Simon Bray from Fleet Services, who raised an amazing £1,000 through a charity football match between Corsham Town F.C. and Box Rovers in memory of Alan Turgeon and Mel Cooper! ⚽

Over the last few weeks, we've been running a series of dementia workshops at the Hospice, supporting those living with dementia (and their communication partners) in developing useful communication strategies now and into the future.

On Friday 9 October, the group met for their final session, although it wasn't goodbye! The group has built some wonderful relationships over the past weeks and are planing to continue meeting and supporting one another.

At the end of the session, the group also presented Admiral Nurse, Emma B, and Speech & Language Therapist and AHP Lead, Emma P, with flowers and a thank you card 🥰

We're very grateful to everyone who took part in the workshops and helped to create such a warm and supportive space 💜

Your donation will help us to ensure we can be there for our community when it matters most.

£35 could pay for a full hour of nursing care on our Inpatient Unit, providing essential care, symptom control, and pain relief.

£55 could pay for two full hours of care during the night, delivered at home by a compassionate, skilled and experienced Hospice at Home Carer.

£95 could pay for three hours of 1:1 sessions with an expert counsellor helping patients, families, carers and children to cope with bereavement.

Make a lasting difference in our latest challenge, coming this November!

Hike to the Lights is a 15-mile fundraising hike that brings people together across our community in support of local hospice care.

Starting from Devizes, Chippenham or Keynsham, you’ll follow one of three routes before finishing at Dorothy House where you’ll experience Moments of Light, a spectacular installation created by Bruce Munro in celebration of our 50th anniversary.

Every step you take and every penny you raise will help Dorothy House continue providing expert care, comfort and support to people with life-limiting illness and those closest to them. Whether you take part on your own, with friends, or as part of a workplace team, we’d love for you to take part.

Can you spare some time to help out with our 2027 Christmas Tree Collection? One of our biggest fundraising initiatives returns this January and we need you to help us make it our best collection yet!

We’re looking for:

Administration volunteers – Supporting our Fundraising team behind the scenes with administration before and after the event

Tree collection volunteers – Working alongside van drivers, helping to navigate collection routes and loading trees into vehicles

Chipping site volunteers – Helping to keep our busy recycling sites running smoothly, supporting with movement of Christmas trees and general site organisation

Refreshment volunteers – Keeping our volunteers fuelled with hot drinks, snacks and lots of encouragement throughout the weekend

Van driver volunteers – Driving along collection routes to local homes, collecting trees and transporting them to our recycling sites

Our annual Christmas Tree Collection simply wouldn’t happen without the support of our amazing volunteers. Whether you’re out collecting trees, welcoming volunteers with a hot drink, or helping behind the scenes, every role plays an important part in making the event a success.
