July Update.
It’s a bit warm in the Shed come midday in this hot weather, so we have been knocking off a bit earlier but that said, our projects are coming along nicely.
It seems like last year but it was only the beginning of June that we had a stall for “Join in Day”. This was well attended and was good fun. Due to the forecast it was moved inside and this was a good move. The two old fashioned challenges went down well. One was move the loop along the wire and don’t let the bell ring. The other was move the ball up and down without dropping it through the holes. See photos
We appear to be refurbishing lots of benches this year, three more have been completed since May and we have another 5 to 7 in the pipeline. The three we have finished were another two for the Council, The library bus stop had new wood fitted in situ and I am think the other one is going near the pavilion in the Victory Fields. The third one was a commission using Iroko so it should last for years.
Other projects finished are a tombola for the Crafty Hive, a bug hotel and posts for a football tennis net. On the net, we are not sure how you play it but we made some posts out of old table legs and some round ply blanks. This was for Chris Carr of the football club.
As a challenge, to use some short bits of wood up. We made some small 3 legged stools. The challenge is they have lots of tricky angles. One is in pine and one in oak. Hopefully these will sell OK at our next sale event.
