The Rotary Club of Bournemouth is a thriving Rotary Club which meets on Monday lunchtimes & Wednesday evenings (depending on the week - see below).

At this week's meeting, Past President Talbot Massey received the President’s “Thank You” bar of chocolate in recognition of his long and dedicated service.
Talbot has served as Club President, twice as Honorary Secretary, and has been a key member of the social committee. From 2013 to this year, he meticulously organised 13 club trips at home and abroad.

A calm and dependable presence within Bournemouth Rotary, Talbot continues to inspire members old and new.

Thank you, Talbot, for your outstanding commitment to the club.

The club’s annual quiz night was recently held at the Winton Royal British Legion Club, raising funds in support of Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign. President Amanda welcomed a lively crowd of 70 players, grouped into 12 teams, who tackled the questions devised by Amanda herself. Steve Bick directed proceedings as quizmaster, with Talbot Massey keeping the scores in check throughout the evening.

A bumper raffle, organised by Amanda Fretton and Pam Coniam, proved hugely popular. With a generous star prize donated by Mary Brackley, the raffle brought in an impressive £450. Tasty fish and chips were served during the interval, adding to the warm and sociable atmosphere.

After the final round, President Amanda presented prizes to the top three teams:

1st Place: The Adams Family
2nd Place: Up the Creek with a Paddle (led by Past DG Debbie Dunford)
3rd Place: Universally Challenged (led by Alison Barclay)

It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening, with close to £800 raised — a terrific result for a very worthy cause.

Club members Pam and Kate were volunteers at the Run Bournemouth events held on Sunday 11th October. Their support helped make the races a great experience for runners of all ages. Thank you for giving up your Sunday to help out 😊🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Acting President Richard Mockridge chaired the meeting at the Collingwood Hotel on 5th October, where he was pleased to welcome his own guest, Hon. Rtn Chris Mayne of the Boscombe & Southbourne club, together with Dr Emmanuel Udezue, guest of Past President Dr Steve Bick. It was a pleasure to have both visitors with us, and their presence contributed to a friendly and good‑humoured atmosphere around the tables.

Headed by President Amanda, our annual trip took us to the West Country this year, and once again Past President Talbot Massey delivered a superbly planned five‑day programme: more than 20 visits, smooth logistics, great food and wonderful company.

From Exeter’s Cathedral and Underground Passages to Dartmoor Prison Museum, Buckfast Abbey, Postbridge and the House of Marbles, every day was full of variety. Cornwall brought Tintagel, King Arthur’s Great Halls, Port Isaac (a treat for Doc Martin fans), and Jamaica Inn. Plymouth offered the Mayflower Museum, Smeaton Tower, The Box, a harbour cruise and a Plymouth Gin Distillery tour.

Our final day included a private tour of Britannia Royal Naval College and a ferry trip to Greenway, Agatha Christie’s beautiful holiday home.

Talbot thought of everything, including transport for those needing a little extra help, and the group returned tired but very happy after a packed and memorable week.
