🥧 WEEKLY COOKING CLUB! 🥧

Today our residents got creative in the kitchen, making over 25 delicious homemade quiches! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳
We made three tasty flavours:
🧀 Cheese & Onion
🥓 Quiche Lorraine
🥕 Roasted Vegetable
Our cooking club is all about building confidence, learning valuable life skills, trying new things and coming together over good food. ❤️

And the best part? We made enough to share with our Community Fridge, helping provide nutritious, homemade meals for others in our community too! 🥰 A brilliant afternoon of cooking, teamwork and plenty of quiche! 🥧✨

🥓🥞 Breakfast, laughter & a great start to the day! ❤️

There’s nothing quite like bringing people together over good food! This morning at Hope Housing, our residents enjoyed delicious bacon baps and bacon pancakes, alongside plenty of laughter, conversation and smiles. 🥓🥞☕

Breakfast clubs are about so much more than food they’re a chance to connect, build friendships, share a laugh and start the day together as a community. 🫶

A simple breakfast can make a big difference. Here’s to more mornings filled with good food, good company and even better memories! ❤️

🏡 The Hope Cabin Kitchen – A Space for Skills, Community & Connection 🍳💛

Our Cabin Kitchen is so much more than just a kitchen. It’s a welcoming community space where residents from all of our properties can come together, learn, connect and build important life skills.

From our cooking group with Teela, to breakfast clubs, practical life-skills sessions and shared meals, this fantastic space provides opportunities for residents to gain confidence and independence in a supportive environment. 🥘☕️

Whether it’s learning how to prepare a healthy meal, budgeting for ingredients, trying something new, or simply sitting down together over breakfast, every session is about building skills, relationships and a stronger sense of community. ❤️

We’re so proud of what happens in our Hope Kitchen and it’s all possible because of this incredible space and the people who make it happen. A kitchen. A classroom. A meeting place. A community. 🏡✨

“The best thing about Hope is that they see me as a person, as me.” ❤️ 🔑

Today, we’re sharing Shannon’s story.

At 33, Shannon is now living independently and looking towards an exciting future college, working with animals and continuing to build a life she can be proud of.

But her journey hasn’t been easy.

After experiencing sexual exploitation as a teenager, homelessness in her 20s and six months sleeping rough beneath Bournemouth Pier, Shannon came to Hope HTS four years ago.

She told us: “I finally found people who would listen and wanted to help me.” When Shannon arrived at Hope, she needed somewhere safe to stay , but she found so much more. With the support of our team, she gradually felt able to talk about her past, rediscovered her love of art, began singing again and started to rebuild her confidence.

Now, she has her own home. 🏡

There are still challenges along the way, and Shannon remains connected to Hope for support with budgeting, bills and everyday life. But this time, she is moving forward with hope, confidence and a future of her own.

As our founder and CEO Julie Berti says:
“We feel privileged to have been able to help her as she discovered her confidence and worked towards a better life.”
Since 2009, Hope HTS has supported more than 2,700 people experiencing homelessness. Every person who comes through our doors has their own story, their own challenges and their own hopes for the future.

Shannon’s story reminds us that homelessness is never the whole story. With the right support, people can rebuild, rediscover themselves and move towards a future they choose.

👩‍🍳 This week’s Cooking Group! 🧀✨

It was all about comfort food in the kitchen this week! The group got stuck into making macaroni cheese, bacon mac & cheese and Spanish croquettes – learning new skills, cooking together and, of course, enjoying the food along the way! 🙌

But the best part? ❤️ 25 delicious portions of macaroni cheese were made for our Community Fridge, helping provide tasty, filling meals for people in our local community.
And each meal cost less than £1 to make! 🥰

It’s amazing what can be achieved when we cook together – building confidence, learning skills, reducing food waste and giving back to the community, one meal at a time. 🍽️💙

👩‍🍳🍗 Ready, Steady, Cook… Hope style! 🍳

This week’s cooking class was a little different! Instead of following a set recipe, our residents were challenged to research their own recipes, with chicken as the main ingredient just like Ready, Steady, Cook! 🥘

And they certainly got creative! We had:
🍗 Chicken Cordon Bleu
🥧 Chicken Pie
🍝 Chicken, Bacon & Tagliatelle
🍊 Chicken à l’Orange

Meanwhile, our amazing Community Crew got busy in the kitchen too, preparing 17 delicious meals of creamy chicken, bacon & shallots, served with a choice of rice or pasta. ❤️

It was a brilliant opportunity to try something new, build confidence in the kitchen, make their own choices and, most importantly, enjoy cooking together.

Because our cooking classes are about so much more than food , they’re about skills, confidence, connection and creating a sense of community. 🏠💛
