Rotary Club of Parkstone

Rotary Club of Parkstone The Rotary Club of Parkstone was chartered on the 3rd of December 1970,

Rotary is the world’s first service organization.

The Rotary Parkstone is a friendly group of people who get together to raise money for local, national and global causes, at the same time working with local schools, groups and charities. It was founded 108 years ago in Chicago. Rotary’s main objective is service to the community, in the workplace, and around the globe through fellowship. “Service above self” is what the 1.2 million Rotarians u

nited in 34,000 Rotary Clubs around the world, put to practice every day. Rotary Clubs are open to people of all cultures, colours and creeds, and are not affiliated with any political or religious organizations but, there is something that all Rotary club members have in common: we take action. As a community of volunteers, we reach out to neighbours in need. We build, we organize and carry out a remarkable variety of humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange programs, that touches people lives, in our local community and worldwide. The 1.2 million men and women of Rotary, we work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education, job training, promote peace, provide access to clean water to areas that needs it around the world, and eradicate polio, all, under the motto service above self.

🌞 Helping Create Happy Summer Memories 🌞

Rotary Parkstone CIO is delighted to support SMILE, the charity that provides friendship, support and activities for lone parent families, with a donation towards their children's Summer Activity Weeks. SMILE helps ensure that families can enjoy fun experiences, build confidence, make new friends and create lasting memories during the school holidays.

We know that the long summer break can be challenging for many lone parents, and we are proud to play a small part in helping children enjoy a summer filled with fun, laughter and opportunity.

Thank you to everyone who supports Rotary Parkstone CIO. Your generosity enables us to continue supporting outstanding local organisations like SMILE and making a positive difference across our community.

Together, we make a difference. 💙💛

This week, Rotary Parkstone CIO and Rotary Poole, in partnership with BCP Council, were proud to plant a Peace Pole in the beautiful Rose Garden at Poole Park.

Bearing the message "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in several languages, the Peace Pole is a lasting symbol of peace, hope, friendship and international understanding.

In a world that too often experiences conflict and division, it reminds us that every act of kindness, every helping hand and every effort to understand one another contributes to a more peaceful future.

If you're visiting Poole Park, why not take a moment to pause at the Peace Pole, reflect on its message and remember that lasting peace begins with each of us.

Rotary Parkstone CIO was delighted to donate a selection of sensory resources to Victoria School, Poole.

The donation included items to support balance, coordination and musical play, helping to provide engaging sensory experiences for the pupils. We hope these resources will bring enjoyment while supporting learning, development and wellbeing.

It is a privilege to support the fantastic work of Victoria School and the dedicated staff who make such a positive difference every day.

Thank you to everyone who supports Rotary Parkstone CIO. Together, we continue to make a difference in our local community.

A huge thank you to Sue a good friend to Rotary Parkstone, for hosting our Charity Supper in the garden event yesterday. Sue and Irene excelled themselves with their catering skills ably supported by Sheila in the kitchen and Liz and Yvonne volunteering as waitresses. The picture shows Irene presenting Sue with a token of our thanks.
This follows on from a successful sponsored walk raising funds for Rotary Wessex Heart Beat House.
Amelia from Heartbeat House joined us to acknowledge our pledge of £2000 towards this excellent charity.
Wessex Heartbeat House is a "home from home" providing accommodation for the families of cardiac patients at the Wessex Cardiac Unit, University Hospital Southampton. Situated just a short walk from the hospital, it enables loved ones to stay close during treatment, offering comfort, practical support and peace of mind. Originally established through the generosity of Rotary clubs and sustained by charitable donations, Heartbeat House has supported thousands of families through some of the most challenging times of their lives.

It is always a privilege to hold mock inte rviews at Oak Academy with year 10 students. The new building is very impressive as was the quality of the interviews and conversation between Rotary Parkstone volunteers and the students. A special thank you to Mr Gaza and our own David Kane who ensured the day ran smoothly and was a valued experience for all who took part. Service before self with a 😃 smile!
