🚂 Another Busy and Enjoyable Club Night!
There was plenty going on at the club this week, with a great turnout of members and lots of fun had by all!

🔧 New 009 Layout
Duncan and Ben got started on planning the club’s new 009 layout, which will measure 8ft x 2ft. We also put the club’s new 009 locomotive through its paces on the four track test board, which is available for members to use.

🛤️ Work on Sarah’s Falls
Other members turned their attention to Sarah’s Falls. After some discussion, a decision was made to remove two sections of track and replace them with new track. This work is due to start at the club’s next meeting.

🚂 Locomotives and Weathering
Tim reprogrammed two locomotives to run on DC, while Duncan spent some time weathering his rolling stock, adding more character and realism.
It was fantastic to see so many members busy with different projects, sharing ideas, helping each other and enjoying a great evening at the club.
Thanks to everyone who came along. We’re looking forward to picking up where we left off at the next meet!

🚂 Another great club night last night! 🚂
A good turnout and plenty going on around the club!
🇨🇦 Sarah’s Falls, our Canadian layout, was out for members to enjoy, with lots of fun to be had running the DC locos.
🔧 Our new test track layout was also completed, meaning members can now run both DC and DCC locos whenever they like. A huge thank you to Mike, Mark, Chris and Dave for all their hard work getting this finished! 👏
🎨 Meanwhile, Zara and Duncan were busy painting ducks, ducks and more ducks, along with buildings for their new layout. 🦆🏠
👋 We also gave a warm welcome to Norman, who joined the club, Great to have you with us!
A brilliant evening of modelling, running trains and good company. Looking forward to the next one! 🚂😊

Club last friday night. Ok, Paul got our Thomas layout out and managed to keep Chris, Ben and Simon entertained. Mike did the fencing pn Benbridge and Chris C helped Mark with adding more support on to the underside of Benbridge. And managed 3 boards out of 4, as Mike was working on the other one. Adam turned up and we all ended up just watching Mike thread fishing line through the fence posts 🤣 Next club night is Friday 25th September

There was plenty to do on two of the club’s layouts!
🚂 Sarah’s Falls once again received plenty of attention ahead of its visit to Marchwood next weekend. Paul, Dave and Neil worked on the scenery, checked the locomotives, and gave the rolling stock a good run to make sure everything is ready for the trip.
🎨 Duncan also took the opportunity to show all the members at the club how to use Mod Podge, sharing some useful tips and techniques.
Meanwhile, work continues on Benbridge, with repairs underway and scenery being updated ahead of its trip to Portsmouth in November.
A productive evening all round, lots of work, plenty of teamwork, and the layouts are looking better by the week! 👏🚂

Club night and there was plenty to do on Benbridge after the issues we had before Okehampton.
Mark found the fault on the branch line, so the whole fiddleyard section had to be lifted and the track plates moved. We also added ballast to the main through section in the station after the track buckled.
Sarah’s Falls made a return to the club ahead of its appearance at the Marchwood exhibition in September, so some work was needed there too. Paul gave the layout a good dusting, painted all the blackboard sections and gave the track a thorough clean.
Adam arrived and got locos and rolling stock was given a good hour of running.
A very productive night all round! 🚂👍

Benbridge only went and got voted “Best in Show”! 🏆
However… it definitely didn’t all go according to plan! 😂
Board 2 overheated in the trailer, causing both through sections to buckle and pop out in the heat. Before we could even leave home, Duncan had to remove the whole section, cut it, and relay it without the ballast.
Then, to add to the fun, the same board had 6 out of 8 fiddleyard tracks buckle, which took nearly 4 hours to sort out on Friday evening down in Dawlish. Thankfully, our brilliant friends at Devon Model Railways lent a hand and helped cut and relay the whole fiddleyard section. We honestly couldn’t have done it without you, so thank you! ❤️
The branchline refused to work so had to be left alone, (engineering service) The DCC system kept overheating and closing down, and the boards keep dropping out of line, occasionally sending locos jumping off the track. 🤦‍♂️😂
But despite all of that… what a success!
The feedback has been absolutely lovely, and to top it all off, being voted Best in Show made all the stress, late nights and frantic repairs completely worth it. 🏆🚂 Chris, Duncan and zara did an amazing job operating, along with our friends Devon Model Railways
A huge thank you to Okehampton model railway club for hosting such a great show. You did a fantastic job, and we really enjoyed being part of it.
Now… time to figure out how to stop everything trying to self-destruct before the next show! 😂🚂
