🙌 Meet Our New County Youth Lead!

We're excited to announce that Joshua has been appointed as the new County Youth Lead for Oxfordshire Scouts.

The County Youth Lead plays a vital role in championing Youth-Shaped Scouting, helping young people influence decisions, shape programmes, and make their voices heard across the county.

We look forward to seeing the impact Joshua will make in supporting young people to lead, inspire, and create positive change.

Oxfordshire Cub Scout Making Headlines!🎉

We're incredibly proud to see Albie, a 10-year-old Cub Scout from Oxfordshire, featured in the Oxford Mail for his amazing work raising awareness of PANS and PANDAS!

🌟 Since the age of eight, Albie has written over 150 letters to hospitals, politicians and public figures, helping to raise awareness of these often misunderstood conditions.

🎡 His incredible campaigning has helped him achieve something truly special – lighting up the iconic London Eye green for World PANS/PANDAS Awareness Day!

A fantastic example of how young people in Scouting can make a real difference!

🏕️ Have an amazing time at CPCW 2026!⚜️

This Friday, Scout Patrols from across Oxfordshire and beyond will be heading to CPCW for a weekend of camping, teamwork, challenges and putting their Scouting skills to the test!

From building on core Scouting skills to working together as a Patrol and taking on challenges throughout the weekend, we hope everyone has a brilliant time, learns something new and makes plenty of memories along the way. 🙌

🏕️ What a weekend at Oxon Gathering 2026!

Volunteers from across Oxfordshire came together at Jubilee House for a brilliant weekend of learning, sharing, connecting and having fun!

From trying new activities and developing skills, to sharing programme ideas and meeting other volunteers, there was plenty happening throughout the weekend. 🌿🧗💡🤝

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, ran sessions, shared their knowledge or helped make the weekend happen. We hope everyone went home with new ideas, new skills and new connections to take back to their teams.

Rehearsals for our epic 2027 Show start soon and we need to get our cast lists together and some information out to everyone.

The Show is open to members of Scouts and Girlguiding throughout Oxfordshire. When working out which 'gang' you will be in, the key date is 14 Feb 2027. Your age at that date is what decides it. So:

6 & 7 (which means you might still be 5 at the moment) = Mini Gang
8+ and still in primary school from September = Junior Gang
Year 7 (from September) up to age 30 = Senior Gang

Please share this far and wide, on local pages, at your Units and with friends and family. You just never know who could become one of our future stars. Make sure it reaches anyone and everyone so nobody misses out.

Only a few weeks until we're back together again so this is your chance to join the best gang around.

🏕️ A wonderful week at Youlbury!

Brightwell Cubs and Scouts have had a brilliant time at Youlbury, enjoying a week packed with adventure, challenges and plenty of fun! 🌲

From building pioneering projects to taking on activities high above the ground, everyone got stuck in, learnt new skills and made some fantastic memories along the way.

A huge well done to everyone who took part, and thank you to all the volunteers who helped make the week possible! 💚

⚜️ Exciting changes are coming for Explorers! ⚜️

A new approach to Explorer badges and awards is on the way, giving young people even more opportunities to develop skills, take on challenges and work towards their Top Awards.

🏕️ Activity Badges – Short term
New Activity Badges will focus on a mix of practical and soft skills, including outdoor skills, leadership, employability and community engagement.

🏆 Challenge Awards – Medium term
There will be 6 Challenge Awards covering:
Adventure • Community Engagement • Employability • International • Leadership • Values

⭐ Top Awards – Long term
Explorer Challenge Awards will also be able to contribute towards ICV projects for 14+ Top Awards, with a wider review of Top Awards planned as part of the new strategy.

The Young Leader Scheme remains unchanged at this stage.
