We had a fantastic and creative day last week at our Bank of Ideas Family Crest Making Day!

It was brilliant to see families come together to create their own tactile family crests, exploring what makes their family unique and choosing symbols and ideas that represent them. 🎨

We were also delighted to have Dr Laura Cushley from Queen’s University join us on the day and support the families with their creative ideas.

This event was made possible thanks to the support of Thank you for helping us create meaningful, accessible experiences for young people and families.

Could you be entitled to Blind Person’s Tax Allowance?

If you’re visually impaired and live in Northern Ireland, you may be able to claim Blind Person’s Allowance – an extra tax-free allowance that means you can earn more before paying Income Tax.

If you’re working, starting a job, on an apprenticeship or placement, it’s worth checking whether you qualify. Your employer won’t automatically apply it – you need to claim through HMRC.

To find out if you qualify, call HMRC on 0300 200 3301

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED ACROSS NORTHERN IRELAND!

Could you be the reason a child joins in, makes friends and feels included?

A huge thank you to Danni & Carla!

We want to say a massive thank you to Danni and her lifelong friend Carla for completing the Feile 10K Fun Run and raising an incredible £445 for Angel Eyes NI!

This fundraiser was particularly special because Angel Eyes NI has been part of Danni and her family’s journey for the past 10 years, since her younger sister Jessica was diagnosed with Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI).

From those early days of uncertainty, Angel Eyes NI has supported their family with education, guidance, practical advice and emotional support — helping them understand Jessica’s vision and navigate the challenges of everyday life, both at home and in school. 💙

Carla has also been a special part of Jessica’s life since she was just three years old. Growing up alongside Jessica has given Carla a real understanding of visual impairment and the challenges she faces, making this 10K even more meaningful.

Angel Eyes NI's support has also inspired Danni to pursue a career working with children with additional needs, helping other families in the same way that Angel Eyes NI has supported hers.

So, this wasn’t simply a 10K — it was Danni and Carla’s way of giving something back to a charity that has made such a difference to their family.

Thank you both for taking on the challenge, for sharing your story and for raising an amazing £445! 🥰

Every pound raised helps us continue supporting children and young people with visual impairment and their families across Northern Ireland.

We are so grateful for your support — well done Danni & Carla! 👏

What a brilliant few days we’ve had with our young people completing their Level 1 qualification in Money Management with Money Ready UK !

Over three days, our young people worked towards their qualification, building important skills and knowledge to help them become more confident and independent with their finances. They covered everything from budgeting, income and saving to understanding PIP and managing money in everyday life.

But it wasn’t all classroom-based - each afternoon was packed with fun and practical activities, including an action-packed session with Disability Sport NI, giving everyone the chance to get active, try new things and have fun together.

And what better way to finish the three days than with Go Karting! There were plenty of smiles, and, of course, competition!

It was fantastic to see our young people learning new skills, growing in confidence, spending time together and having fun along the way.

A huge well done to everyone who took part – congratulations on completing your qualification! 🎉

With thanks to Halifax Foundation for Northern Ireland for supporting this work!
