Trick or Treat in Dungannon.

On the 17th October we had our Halloween event with the brilliant Solace in Sound and Funnybones. There were snacks, arts and crafts and a fun filled day was had by all. It was a lovely chance for families to catch up.

World Sight Day 2026: Seeing Beyond the Diagnosis

What does the world look like through the eyes of someone living with sight loss?

Last Thursday, 8 October, Angel Eyes NI was delighted to showcase our newly launched Empatheyes360° platform at the International World Sight Day Conference, hosted by Queen's University Belfast

As part of Dr Laura Cushley's presentation, Stepping into the Patient's View: Visual Impairment Simulation for Medical Students, delegates were invited to explore how different eye conditions can affect everyday vision.

92 participants experienced Empatheyes360° live using their own smartphones.

Building on Angel Eyes NI's award-winning visual impairment awareness training, Empatheyes360° makes immersive learning more accessible, with no virtual reality headset required.

By combining visual simulations with evidence-based learning, Empatheyes360° helps healthcare professionals, educators and organisations develop a greater understanding of the everyday challenges experienced by people with sight loss.

A fantastic opportunity to demonstrate how technology can support awareness, understanding and more inclusive practice.

From yesterday’s launch to today’s hands-on demonstrations!

Following the first public demonstration of the latest Empatheyes360° technology on World Sight Day, Angel Eyes NI is at Pan Ireland Day today.

We’ll be offering attending ophthalmologists live demonstrations of three common eye conditions, exploring how our immersive platform can illustrate the impact of vision impairment on everyday experiences.

It’s an opportunity to try the technology, ask questions and discuss its potential for clinical education and workforce development.

Immersive learning, on a BIGGER scale.

This World Sight Day, we’re introducing the next development stage of Empatheyes360° — building on our established VR training to bring learning about vision impairment to more people, in more places.

What’s different?
Empatheyes360° brings that learning out of the VR headset and onto a browser-based platform that participants can access on their own devices — making it easier to deliver training to larger groups, in person or online.

Learning shaped around your world.
We can create bespoke training for health services, schools and education settings, and businesses, using real-world scenes tailored to the environments their teams work in.

Through augmented reality (AR), participants can also view their own surroundings through a simulation of an eye condition, helping them explore how vision impairment can affect everyday activities and interactions.

From a classroom or clinic to an office or customer-facing space, we connect immersive experiences with practical strategies that teams can put into action.

A new perspective this World Sight Day!

Today, we’re taking immersive learning a step further.

Angel Eyes NI is excited to announce that we are launching the next stage of Empatheyes360°.

Today marks our first public demonstration of our new browser-based augmented reality technology, at the Assembly Rooms in Belfast.

Whilst Dr Laura Cushley presents her latest research, audience members, using their own mobile phones, will be able to view their surroundings through a simulation of an eye condition — bringing learning about functional vision directly into the room.

Simulation can prompt questions, challenge assumptions and start meaningful conversations about how we provide care and support.

We’re excited to share this milestone with you!

World Sight Day is on the 8th October 2026

The key themes this year are Love Your Eyes. Every Story Counts.

This World Sight Day, Angel Eyes NI will be celebrating the unique journey of every child, young person and family living with a visual impairment.

This week we provided 11 family members with a Family VR Session.

Through our Family VR Sessions, families have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of their child's vision and how they experience the world around them.

Led by our Eye Clinician, Molly, each family received an individual appointment tailored to their child's specific eye condition. These dedicated sessions provide a safe space for families to ask questions, gain valuable clinical insight, and develop a clearer understanding of their child's diagnosis.

Alongside this, Lisa, our Family Support Coordinator, offers emotional support, practical advice, strategies, and guidance to help families feel confident in supporting their child at home, in school, and within the wider community.

Together, these sessions empower families with knowledge, understanding, and reassurance, ensuring they feel supported every step of the way.

On World Sight Day, we recognise that our families vision journey is unique, every family's experience matters, and every story counts.

Today is World Sight Day. We are asking employers to See Potential.

This week, Angel Eyes NI is delighted to welcome two new members, Lisa and Cheryl, to our team. Each brings their own skills, experience, ideas and ambitions to our organisation.

Both also happen to live with sight loss.

Sight loss should never be a barrier to employment.Yet inaccessible recruitment, assumptions about ability and a lack of understanding around reasonable adjustments can prevent talented people from getting the opportunity they deserve.
