โ˜€๏ธ Weโ€™re expecting beautiful weather this weekend and we hope lots of people come and visit us here in Beaumaris and enjoy the Menai Strait! โ˜€๏ธ

๐Ÿ‘‰ If youโ€™re thinking about doing some cold water swimming hereโ€™s Hope with our Top Tips to keep you safe!

๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ Never swim alone and always tell someone where youโ€™re going.

๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ Check the weather and tides.

๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ Consider using a tow float and wear brightly coloured clothes.

๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ Acclimatise yourself to the water by entering slowly.

๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ Carry a means for falling for help!

And as always if you find yourself in difficulty in the water ๐Ÿ›Ÿ Stay calm, extend your arms and legs and float until you can control your breathing, then shout for help or swim to safety ๐Ÿ›Ÿ

RNLI role: Water Safety Officer, Launch Authorithy and TRIM Practioner

Why I joined the RNLI:

Interesting fact about me:
"I've met Dolly Parton".

Its Face 2 Face Friday! ๐Ÿ‘‹

Over the next few weeks weโ€™re going to be introducing our fabulous Face 2 Face fundraising team, so letโ€™s get started!
Name: Onz
Joined: May 2025

Why I joined the RNLI:
โ€œI grew up in Mousehole and I knew the Penlee Lifeboat well. I wanted to use my spare time to help the RNLIโ€.

My favourite thing about the role:
โ€œEducating people about the RNLโ€™s history and helping people enjoy our coastline safely!โ€

Interesting fact about me:
โ€œIโ€™m also a Mountain Leader and on Search & Rescueโ€.

Having a good relationship with other agencies along the Menai Strait and beyond is super important and forms a big part of what we do! After all, โ€˜Team Work Makes The Dream Workโ€™! ๐Ÿ’ช So itโ€™s great when we get to share moments like this; boat still, engines off and SMIIIIIIIIIILE ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

๐Ÿ“ธ Thanks to our friends at Penmon Coastguard Rescue Team for sharing the photo with us!

๐Ÿ‘‹ MEET THE CREW MONDAY๐Ÿ‘‹

Name: Cat
Joined: November 2023
RNLI role: Boat crew, Shore crew and Trainee Navigator

Why I joined the RNLI:
โ€œAfter finishing studying at Bangor university, I wanted to stay in north Wales and become part of the local community. I sailed from, and worked at, the local yacht club and knew Iโ€™d enjoy working alongside some of the members as crew whilst developing important skillsโ€.

My favourite thing about being on the crew:
โ€œItโ€™s great to be part of something meaningful and help those in need. Our crew have a wide range of backgrounds, which can contribute to a positive outcome by drawing upon different experiences and strengthsโ€.

My best memory:
โ€œIโ€™ve had so many positive experiences, itโ€™s difficult to choose. I really enjoyed casualty care training exercises onboard local wildlife vessels (Seacoast Safaris - Puffin Island Cruises & Boat tours) and the Bangor University vessel, RV Prince Madog. These scenarios include triage and first aid, fires, engine failure and sinking and are great opportunities for training (and a bit of acting amongst the crew too!)โ€.

Interesting fact about me:
โ€œDw iโ€™n dysgu Cymraeg!โ€ ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ท๓ ฌ๓ ณ๓ ฟ
