Ending Volunteer's week, with a few more reflections from our amazing Volunteers:-

“Volunteering for Home-Start is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. m To see a new Mum growing in confidence and enjoying their life is priceless. Home-Start really value and appreciate their volunteers, the training and support we get is amazing and it is a fantastic charity to work with."

" Volunteering at HS has been one of the most worthwhile and rewarding experiences I've had. Helping to run their Multiple Births group has been a real joy and privilege - the sense of camaraderie and peer support amongst all the mums there is incredible and so comforting for anyone embarking on their multiples journey. I'd recommend involvement to anyone who has a few hours to spare each week, it's such a great cause.”

“I find being a Home Start home visiting volunteer incredibly rewarding. Being able to offer practical support and a listening ear and being part of a families journey is such a special thing to be a part of. Its so lovely to watch families who may have been struggling start to thrive and know that the work we do helps that happen. It really does change lives.”

“As a relatively new volunteer, still in my first year, I’ve been so impressed with how welcoming the team at Homestart are, particularly their dedication and professionalism and determination to help families with young children. The groups are fun to support, they are friendly and fully inclusive. Whilst one to one support is rewarding and so worthwhile. It’s remarkable what difference a coffee and a chat each week, maybe just a couple of hours, can make to a lonely mum.”

"Walking into someone’s home for the first time can be really daunting, but knowing the difference you can make is priceless. The gift of time can make the biggest impact."

"Volunteering is a two-way relationship. You go through a door and create a friendship which might not have evolved without being with Home Start. Lovely people often Mums going through problems with their family and I hope that by coming from a different angle we can help them to face their lives slightly differently. My reward is enormous when I see worries being solved."

I hope you all had a nice half-term and managed in the heat 🌞

Join us tomorrow morning at Home-Start Basingstoke & Deane Bumps To Newborn and Beyond group (up to 2.5 years) which is held in The Sarum Hill Centre (within Hope Church), RG21 8SR.

The group is from 9.45 -11.15am

Enjoy meeting other parents whilst your babies explore different play areas within the room.

Our group is supported by Home-Start volunteers who are always free for a friendly chat.

Hampshire Breastfeeding Counselling
is available in the group if you would like any feeding support.

The group is FREE.
NO booking required.
Refreshments are available too.
