Today, on International Day of Rural Women, we celebrate the women who are the heart of their communities across Ghana.

They are mothers, caregivers, business owners, farmers, teachers and community leaders. Despite facing daily challenges, they work tirelessly to support their families and create better opportunities for the next generation.

At To Live In Hope, we're proud to support women through initiatives such as education, skills training and community development projects that help build brighter futures.

Strong winds and unusually severe weather in Ghana have caused significant damage to buildings within local communities, tearing roofs from schools and other vital facilities.

For many families and children, this means losing safe spaces to learn, work and gather.

To Live In Hope is responding to urgent requests for support, but we need your help.

For many communities in Ghana, a working well means access to clean, safe water close to home. But when a pump breaks, that access can disappear overnight.

Several community wells now need replacement pumps to keep clean water flowing. Without these repairs, families may have to travel further to collect the water they need each day.

A donation of any size can help us restore these vital water sources and ensure communities continue to have reliable access to clean water.

Every day, local firefighters and emergency responders in Ghana put themselves at risk to help others.

But at one local fire station, they were carrying injured people by hand because they didn't have the emergency stretchers needed to transport patients safely.

To help change that, To Live In Hope donated two emergency stretchers, providing vital equipment that will support emergency response efforts and help improve patient care when every second counts.

Over a period of three weeks, four teenage girls, aged between 15 and 19, welcomed their newborn babies into the world at Takoradi European Hospital.

But instead of beginning life at home with their babies, they found themselves unable to leave hospital.

Coming from families facing extreme financial hardship, they could not afford to pay their medical bills. With no support available and the fathers refusing to take responsibility, the future felt uncertain.

When To Live In Hope learned about their situation, we knew we had to help.

Using funds originally set aside for Christmas gifts, we paid their hospital bills and provided food and nappies to help them care for their newborns.

Martha, Mary, Veronica and Helena were finally able to leave hospital and return home with their babies.

Sometimes, hope begins with simply helping someone take the next step forward. ❤️

A huge thank you to Smith for their generous £1,000 donation, which will help provide materials and equipment for the young girls participating in our seamstress project. This support will enable them to develop valuable sewing skills, create clothing for their communities, and gain the knowledge and confidence needed to build sustainable businesses of their own.
