Where: Collard Bridge Scout Campsite
Please note that the AGM date is provisional and remains subject to the timely receipt of our year end accounts from the independent examiner.
District Trustee Board 2026/27
The Trustee Board is a team of volunteers who work together to make sure Scouts is run safely, effectively, and in line with legal and policy requirements.
Together, Trustees ensure the charity is well managed; that risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated; that buildings and equipment are safe and well maintained; and that everyone operates in line with legal obligations and Policy, Organisation and Rules (POR). Their support enables other volunteers to focus on delivering a fantastic programme, giving young people skills for life and experiences they will remember forever.
Finding Out More
There is a wide range of resources available online. If you are interested in learning more about the Trustee role, we suggest starting with the following:

Open Selection Process
In an open selection process, Trustee vacancies are advertised publicly to reach a wider range of potential applicants. This gives more people the opportunity to consider the role and express interest, while helping to broaden the mix of skills and experience on the Trustee Board.
Using an open selection process to recruit Trustees is very common in the charity sector. It helps increase diversity by raising awareness of opportunities, maintaining transparency, and reducing potential conflicts of interest - for example, where Lead Volunteers previously nominated a Chair.
Interested?
At our AGM last year, all Trustees were appointed for a one‑year term. As a result, all roles are now vacant and open for application.
A Trustee Board should comprise a maximum of 12 Trustees (across all ex officio, appointed, and co‑opted roles), with a minimum of five. Last year, the District Scout Council agreed to a maximum of 10 appointed Trustees (including ex officio roles), leaving capacity to co‑opt up to two additional individuals during the year if required.
The District Lead Volunteer and District Youth Lead automatically have places on the Trustee Board. This means there are up to eight appointed Trustee vacancies available.
If you would like to express your interest in being considered for a role - Chair, Treasurer, Trustee - please email me ([email protected]), specifying the role you are interested in. You are also very welcome to get in touch for an informal conversation if you would like to find out more.
The Trustee Board welcomes applications from all eligible individuals and is particularly keen to strengthen the team with people who have experience in construction or in securing successful funding applications. These skills support our long‑term vision to regenerate Collard Bridge Scout Campsite. However, please don’t be discouraged from applying if your background differs - we value a wide range of skills, perspectives, and experiences.
In line with Scouts processes, the outgoing Trustee Board will propose a new Trustee Board at the AGM.
Interested? Don't wait until the AGM.
The deadline for Expression of Interest is Friday 29th May 2026, 21:00.
Thank You
Finally, thank you for your continued support and commitment over the last 12 months as we have settled into a new normal following Transformation. I look forward to catching up with as many of you as possible, and - as always - please do reach out if there is any way we can support you.
Best,
Dan Smith
