Dear parents, carers, leaders and members of the Group Scout Council,

1st North Devon Scout Group needs your help.

Our current Treasurer is stepping down, so we are urgently looking for someone to take on this important role. We are also looking for additional Trustees to support the running of the Group.

The Treasurer role is particularly important. Like all Scout Groups, we are run by a Trustee Board, and we need a Treasurer in place to manage and oversee the Group’s finances. Without someone willing to take on this role, the Trustee Board cannot function properly and the future running of the Group would be at risk.

You do not need to be a Scout leader, and you do not need previous Scouting experience. The role would suit someone who is organised, comfortable with basic finances, and willing to work with the Chair, Group Lead Volunteer and other Trustees to keep the Group running safely and sustainably.

The Treasurer role usually involves:
keeping an overview of the Group’s income and spending
maintaining basic financial records
reporting to Trustee meetings
helping prepare the annual accounts
supporting good financial decisions for the benefit of the young people
We are also looking for general Trustees. Trustees help make sure the Group is well run, safe, financially sound and able to keep providing Scouting locally. This could suit parents, carers or community members with skills or experience in areas such as finance, fundraising, buildings, administration, governance, events, communications, or simply a willingness to help.

These are volunteer roles, but they are vital to the Group. The Trustee Board supports the leaders behind the scenes so that they can focus on delivering great Scouting for the young people.
