👻🎃 A SPOOKTACULAR HALLOWEEN AT OUR LUNCHEON CLUB! 🎃👻

Yesterday we finally got to celebrate Halloween at our Wednesday Luncheon Club. A little later than planned due to the club being closed last week, but better late than never 👍🏻😃

A huge thank you to Lisa for once again working her magic and transforming the room with some fabulous Halloween decorations, all ready for our members to enjoy. You certainly helped set the scene👏🎃👻🪦

Our members enjoyed a lovely two-course lunch, freshly prepared and served by our wonderful team, followed by refreshments and of course, plenty of Halloween sweets to keep everyone happy! 🍬🍫

There were also celebrations for our raffle and bingo winners, with Bingo Barry and Sheldon doing what they do best… keeping everyone entertained with their cheeky banter and endless mickey-taking. They certainly never disappoint 🤣🤣

But behind every successful Wednesday is our amazing team of volunteers. Their hard work goes far beyond preparing and serving meals. They help with transport, provide additional support to those who need it, make sure everyone feels included and cared for, and take on all the washing up, cleaning and clearing up afterwards, leaving the hall ready for the next group to enjoy.

Without these wonderful people giving up their time and energy, our little centre simply wouldn’t be able to continue doing what it does for our respected elders and the wider local community.

We are so much more than a luncheon club. We’re a place for friendship, laughter, companionship and support, helping to keep loneliness at bay and bringing people together.

To every volunteer who plays their part, whether seen or unseen, THANK YOU. You really are the heart of what we do. ❤️👏👏👏

Happy faces, happy hearts and a little Halloween mischief thrown in for good measure! 👻🎃❤️

Last Wednesday our respected elders enjoyed once again a Green Lane chippy dinner followed by our regular prize draw and bingo. It was also an opportunity to celebrate Joy’s birthday (a truly valued volunteer and member of our team) 🎂🎉

Unfortunately the luncheon club will be closed on Wednesday 28th October but will be back in full swing on Wednesday 4th November 😃👍🏻

Karen’s birthday treat 🎂🎁🎉🎶

A little last minute but here are pics from last Wednesday luncheon club 😃 where we served a gammon dinner followed by sponge cake and custard.

Following lunch we celebrated Karen’s 21st birthday again 🤣 when she was serenaded by our regular Johnny Norton who always provides us with an lively afternoon of songs.

During the course of the afternoon we also raised a little funding for our luncheon club by raffling off some amazing knitted Halloween figures which were created by a lovely lady called Gwen who this past year has provided some amazing items for our respected elders.

The afternoon wouldn’t have been complete without our usual prize raffle and bingo, which always goes down well with our members 👍🏻😃

This week’s post includes a mixture of photographs from both last week and this week, as we missed sharing an update with you last Wednesday.

As always, our Wednesday Luncheon Club was filled with friendship, laughter, and community spirit. Our members enjoyed good company, a delicious meal, a special birthday celebration, and of course, our ever popular prize bingo.

Today we were also honoured to receive a very generous donation of £160 from a family member of the late Les Collier. The donation was made in his memory, and we were touched to hear how much his son Mark admired the work we do for our local community and our respected elders.

We are incredibly grateful for every donation we receive. Your kindness and support help us continue providing a warm, welcoming place where older members of our community can enjoy companionship, good food, and a friendly atmosphere each week.

From everyone at Astley Pensioners Centre, thank you for your continued support. ❤️

Another wonderful Wednesday at Astley Pensioners Centre’s Luncheon Club, where friendship, laughter, and community spirit were in abundance.

Our luncheon club is much more than just a meal. It provides a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment where our respected elders can come together, enjoy good company, share stories, and make lasting friendships. For many, it is a highlight of the week and a chance to feel connected and valued within their community.

This week everyone enjoyed a delicious hot meal, refreshments, a selection of clothes to browse, and of course our ever-popular prize raffle and bingo, which always brings plenty of excitement, laughter, and friendly competition.

A huge thank you goes to our incredible volunteers, whose hard work, kindness, and dedication help make each week such a success. From preparing and serving meals to setting up activities and offering a friendly smile, they go above and beyond to ensure everyone feels welcome and has a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

Seeing so many happy faces and hearing the room filled with conversation and laughter reminds us why our luncheon club is such a special place. Thank you to everyone who continues to support us and help keep this wonderful community spirit alive. ❤️😃

Happy faces, happy hearts, and another lovely Wednesday afternoon enjoyed by all.

Please note that the luncheon club on the 16 September will be closed but some of the volunteers will be at the cart and horses from 12:30, so if you fancy joining them for the afternoon then pop along for some lunch and socialising 👍🏻😃

Another wonderful afternoon was enjoyed at Astley Pensioners Centre Luncheon Club this week, where 44 of our respected elders were served a delicious meal and enjoyed the company of good friends.

Our fantastic volunteers, as always, worked incredibly hard behind the scenes and throughout the afternoon to make sure everyone received a warm welcome, a hearty meal, and plenty of opportunities for conversation, laughter, and companionship. Their dedication helps make our centre the friendly and welcoming hub that it is.

This week we also celebrated the upcoming birthdays of two of our volunteers (Gill and Sheldon). As the luncheon club will not be running on Wednesday 16th September due to volunteers leave commitments, we thought it was only right to celebrate a little early. A huge thank you to Joy for once again working her magic in the kitchen and baking some delicious birthday cakes, which went down a treat.

The afternoon was rounded off with four lucky raffle prize-money winners, followed by our popular weekly prize bingo. While the prizes may be small, the enjoyment, excitement, and smiles they bring are priceless.

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and helped make another Wednesday so special. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Wednesday 23rd September for more friendship, food, fun, and community spirit.

Another busy but thoroughly enjoyable afternoon at the luncheon club today.

Our members enjoyed a choice of a delicious gammon and turkey dinner or fish pie, followed by refreshments and an array of tempting desserts including strawberry cheesecake, tiramisu, and raspberry sponge cake, along with biscuits.

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers – Karen, Lisa, Joy, Gill, Sheldon, Rachel, Diane, Chris, Janice, Barry, Hazel and Debra – and to two lovely young ladies who provided some extra helping hands throughout the afternoon.

As always, the raffle, prize bingo and weekly prizes were a big hit with everyone, bringing plenty of smiles and laughter.

With another successful week behind us, it’s now all systems go as we begin planning our next day trip in November. We look forward to creating more wonderful memories together.

Thank you to everyone who helps make our luncheon club such a special place each week.

What a lovely afternoon we had yesterday at the Luncheon Club as we celebrated a very special 80th birthday 🎂🎉Thank you Joy for making the lovely birthday cake which looked delicious 😋

Members enjoyed fantastic entertainment from Johnny Norton, joined in the fun with our prize bingo, and shared plenty of laughter and good company throughout the afternoon.

It was certainly a busy day, but with the support of our wonderful extra helpers, everything ran smoothly and everyone was able to relax and enjoy the celebrations. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so memorable, and many happy returns to our birthday celebrant 🎂🎈🎊
