I feel privileged to have received a donated LifeVac device from The Oliver Steeper Foundation. I have now successfully completed the training required to use this device, helping me to be better prepared to respond in the event of a choking emergency.
I’m incredibly grateful to The Oliver Foundation for their generosity and for helping to raise awareness of the importance of choking first aid .

📢 LIFEVAC: UNDERSTANDING THE FACTS

At The Oliver Steeper Foundation, we believe that when it comes to children's safety, accurate information is absolutely essential.

Over recent years, we have become increasingly concerned about the amount of misinformation and conflicting advice being shared about LifeVac, particularly within the early years sector.

We regularly hear from nurseries, preschools and childminders who have been incorrectly told that LifeVac is illegal, prohibited by regulators, cannot be kept in childcare settings or would automatically invalidate their insurance.

That's why we've created a new, dedicated information page on our website: LifeVac: Understanding the Facts.

Our aim is simple: to provide childcare providers, first aid professionals, parents and the wider public with clear, factual and reliable information, supported by official guidance and regulatory information.

The page addresses some of the most frequently asked questions surrounding LifeVac, including its legal status in the UK, the positions of childcare regulators and the Resuscitation Council UK, insurance, first aid training, medical device regulation and its intended use following unsuccessful established choking first aid.

We want to make one thing absolutely clear: LifeVac is a legally available, regulated medical device designed to provide an additional emergency option when established choking first aid has failed. The Resuscitation Council UK currently remains neither for nor against the use of suction-based airway clearance devices.

We fully support the importance of paediatric first aid training and the professionals who deliver it. However, we also believe that information shared with those responsible for children's safety must be accurate, current and based on facts rather than personal opinions or misunderstandings.

Our goal isn't to create division. It's to remove confusion, challenge misinformation and empower childcare professionals and families to make informed decisions.

Everything we do is in memory of our beautiful boy Oliver, and our determination to help prevent other families from experiencing the heartbreak that we have.

LifeVac Europe are thrilled to share news of another life-saving weekend with 10 lives saved within the UK and USA in choking emergencies. We received usage reports of helping save 5 adults and 5 children, ranging in ages from 1-years-old to 90-years-old, male and female. These were complete and partial airway obstructions with items such as toast, melon, grape, marble, apple, steak, medication, cracker, porridge, and meat. An incredible life-saving weekend! Keep spreading awareness and help save even more lives!

Over the past few years, since losing our beautiful boy Oliver, we have received many letters. Some have been incredibly difficult to read, while others have brought us comfort. But this particular letter will always remain very close to our hearts.

Just weeks after losing Oliver, we learned that through organ donation, he had given a gentleman in his sixties, who had been waiting a year for a transplant, a second chance at life by donating both of his kidneys. Oliver was also able to donate cells from his liver, which could potentially help save or transform more lives in the future.

We would give absolutely anything to have Oliver back, but knowing that our little boy was able to make such an incredible difference to someone else's life brings us so much pride and comfort.

Oliver was only with us for nine short months, but his impact continues to be felt. Through organ donation and the work we do in his memory, his legacy continues to help others.

Forever proud of our beautiful boy. Forever loved, forever missed, and forever making a difference. 💙

We are privileged to have been donated a LifeVac through The Oliver Steeper Foundation.

We have both completed the relevant training in order to use the device safely. We hope this will reassure parents that safeguarding children's welfare is our top priority and here is an extra layer of safety with regards to choking.

💚 Keeping our Hatchlings safe 💚

We are incredibly grateful to The Oliver Steeper Foundation for choosing Hatchlings Day Nursery as one of the settings to receive a LifeVac anti-choking device.

The Foundation was created in memory of Oliver Steeper, who tragically passed away following a choking incident at nursery in September 2021. His parents, Lewis and Zoe, have turned their heartbreak into an incredible legacy, helping to provide LifeVac devices to childcare settings across the UK.

LifeVac is designed to be used in a choking emergency when standard first-aid procedures have failed or cannot be performed, giving our team an additional layer of reassurance should the unthinkable ever happen.

The Foundation has now donated over 1,900 LifeVac devices to nurseries, preschools and childminders, and we feel extremely privileged that Hatchlings has been chosen as one of those settings.

A huge thank you to The Oliver Steeper Foundation for the amazing work you do in Oliver’s memory and for helping us add another important layer of safety for the children in our care. 🫶🏻💚
