We are currently attending a wildfire in Thatcham, and the risk will continue to be extremely high over the weekend. Please help us to help you.

📢 Unpaid and Family Carers – Your Voice Matters

The Government is asking unpaid carers to share their experiences as part of a Call for Evidence on Carer's Allowance.

This is your opportunity to influence how Carer's Allowance could be modernised, including:

💙 How the earnings rules affect you
💙 Balancing paid work and caring
💙 What needs to change to make the benefit fairer and more flexible

If you've ever had to reduce your working hours, worried about the earnings limit, or struggled to balance employment with caring responsibilities, your experience could help shape future reforms.
The consultation is open until 11:59pm on 18 August 2026, and responses can be submitted online, by email, by post, or in accessible formats including Easy Read, BSL, audio and Braille.
Please take a few minutes to have your say and help ensure the voices of unpaid carers are heard.

With the new Prime Minister highlighting social care as a priority, now is the time to make sure unpaid carers’ voices are heard.

Carers UK is a major national carers charity. Every year they run a survey ‘The State of Caring’. It is the UK’s most comprehensive regular research into the lives and experiences of unpaid carers. It is used as a vital source of evidence not only by Carers UK, but by many other organisations including Government, local authorities, health and social care services, charities and carers groups.

The weather forecast indicates that we will again experience hot weather this week. The person you provide help and care to may be more vulnerable to the effects of the heat.
