🎭🐯 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗣𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱! 🐳 What a day 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿! 🧸🎭
The 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 opened its programme in Edinburgh yesterday (https://www.sisf.org.uk/), while its 𝗚𝗼 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 programme continues to bring joy to lovers of oral storytelling traditions across Scotland.
Here at GAS, we enjoyed our second session dedicated to children on Tuesday, with a show by the fantastic 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 (Anne Pitcher Storyteller), in the incomparable setting of the 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗭𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺.
With a whale looking down from above and no fewer than two tigers behind her, Anne kept the children captivated by her stories and songs throughout a packed morning session. The youngsters didn't miss a thing and had a wonderful time trying out different whistles and flutes, meeting some of Anne's hundreds of puppets, and taking an active part in her stories.
Among the audience, watching the master storyteller at work, were the participants in the afternoon workshop, which began by looking back at the strengths of the show: how Anne manages to keep young children engaged and how she brings stories to life.
The second part of the workshop was devoted to incorporating puppets into storytelling, with a masterful demonstration from Anne and some wise advice on how to work with these delightful little helpers — from how to position them when they're resting to how to give them a personality that makes them come alive on stage, finishing by creating a story together.
It was a pleasure to learn from someone with so much experience and such generosity in sharing her knowledge. We're already planning how to put what we've learnt into practice, accompanied by our friends made of cloth and stuffing!
Thanls to Anne Pitcher Storyteller for a deligthful day. And also a thousand thanks to 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 and the 𝗭𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺 at the 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗻, not only for their warm hospitality but also for their dedication and generosity towards everyone involved in this long day devoted to storytelling.
Thanks also to the GAS volunteers who helped behind the scenes, especially the youngest of them, 𝗟𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘀!
This event was organised by the 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀, with the support of the 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹, as part of its 𝗚𝗼 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 programme and the 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗻 & 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹.
Our next gathering is for those aged 16 and over, in the underground of the glass casttle (also known as the 𝗦𝗶𝗿 𝗗𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆), where we'll enjoy stories of fantastical creatures of every kind. But for this particular evening, we have some stories specially prepared about mysterious beings who cross the boundary between two worlds: 𝗽𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘀, 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘀 and other uncanny creatures... It's the season!
