Citymoves Dance Agency SCIO and Sound Festival are happy to announce that we are now accepting applications for a Freelance Expanded Festivals Project Coordinator in 2026!

This freelance opportunity is for the work to be undertaken July – November 2026, dependent on the suitability and availability of the candidate.

Specific focus for the role on coordinating the Expanded Festivals Fund programme between DanceLive festival and soundfestival 2026 in Aberdeen. This opportunity is funded by Creative Scotland and administered by Citymoves.

Composer, violinist, producer and Lecturer in Composition at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Rūta brings extensive experience in composition, performance, collaboration, and developing creative projects across the UK and Europe.

📅 24 June 2026, Lisa Robertson
Composer, violinist and tutor at the University of Edinburgh. Lisa can provide support with composition, instrumentation, notation, string writing and techniques, career development, working with musicians, and navigating the landscape for emerging composers in the UK.

🎵 Wee Music School Summer Concert! 🎵

Our students have been working incredibly hard over the last few months, and we are absolutely thrilled to invite you to our annual Summer Concert!

Come along for an evening of wonderful music and celebrate the amazing progress our talented young musicians have made. It’s going to be a fantastic hour of performances.

🎹 When: Wednesday 24th June, 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
📍 Where: St Andrew’s Cathedral, King Street, Aberdeen

Admission is completely free! We will be welcoming donations at the door, with all proceeds going directly to charity.

NEW CALL-OUT FOR MUSIC COMMIISSIONS 📣🌍

We are seeking 2 composers or musicians to create new works in direct response our Dear Soil Installation, an archive of love letters written to the ground beneath our feet.

Each commissioned artist will spend time with the letters: reading, listening, sitting with what they find and creating a new piece of music to be performed at the Music Hall Big Sky Studio on October 1st during North East Climate Week.

Citymoves and Sound Festival have been awarded Expanded Festivals Funding by Creative Scotland to support Connect: a project bridging Citymoves’ DanceLive Festival of Dance and soundfestival of New Music in 2026 & 2027.

We are delighted to receive this funding from Creative Scotland's Expanded Festivals Fund. It will allow us to support international artists, companies and collaborators. Focusing on live dance, new music and connecting strands throughout the two North East-based festivals.

Paul Burns, Director of Arts and Engagement at Creative Scotland said: “The Expanded Festivals Fund set out to boost the vital creative work of Scotland’s festivals in every corner of the country, and we can now see the full picture of that significant investment.

“These awards provide security to festivals, with some activity planned through to 2028, and help develop a wide range of work from sector development, international collaboration and new programming initiatives.”

So, mark your diaries and book your train tickets to Aberdeen this October!
Citymoves DanceLive Festival will run 15-19 October with 'Connect' events continuing through the 22nd of October, when soundfestival begins. soundfestival takes place 22-31 October 2026.
