Fraser Sharp
Born in the town of Macduff in the North-East of Scotland, Fraser is a composer and musician whose work is shaped by a background as both a percussionist and choral singer. He began formal musical training in 2009 at Aberdeen City Music School, studying percussion, where he developed early interests in orchestral percussion and jazz. He later held a music scholarship at Heriot-Watt University, continuing tuition in timpani and percussion while performing with ensembles including the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland, Scottish Sinfonia, Drake Music Scotland, and university orchestras and jazz ensembles. As a choral singer, Fraser has performed with the Heriot-Watt and University of Strathclyde Chamber Choirs and later the Brussels Chamber Choir—experiences that encouraged a particular interest in writing for choir and voice. Since 2016 he has written works for piano, brass band, big band, choir, voice, and chamber ensembles. His music has been premiered in Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Brussels, Lima and London, including performances by the BBC Singers. In 2025 he began a Master of Music in Composition at King’s College London, where he also sings as a choral scholar.
