A great conversation about inclusive employment at Thompson Co-op last week.

Thank you to Thompson MLA Eric Redhead for visiting Tyler as part of MLA 2 Work Day during Disability Employment Awareness Month, organized in partnership with MSEN.

We love talking about this toilet. It's often the first spot we show off in our new home.

It's self rising. It's the first of its kind in Manitoba (maybe even Canada).

But seriously...we want to be a model of what can be done through thoughtful design and consultation.

Access to an accessible washroom is a basic human right. And everyone deserves dignity.

That's what the Breaking Barriers Campaign is trying to build.

October is Disability Employment Awareness Month.

The goal for our new home is to have accessibility built into the foundation. Not only for the community we serve, but for the people who work here too.

Conversations around accessibility often focus on customers, clients, or visitors. But it’s equally as important to be employee focused.

Stats show that businesses are more successful through diverse skills, experiences, and perspectives. Yet Manitobans with disabilities still face higher rates of unemployment and underemployment.

Building inclusive workplaces benefits everyone. Accessible environments—along with policies and workplace cultures—help ensure everyone has equal opportunity to bring their skills and expertise to the table

Today, and every day, we recognize the truths of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and reaffirm our commitment toward reconciliation. We remember the children who never returned home and honour the Survivors and their families.

Our path to meaningful reconciliation requires continuous learning and action, and we are committed to ongoing education to ensure our services are equitable, culturally safe, and inclusive for Indigenous Peoples. We are grateful for the knowledge shared by Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community organizations who continue to guide our reconciliation work.

Please note that our offices are closed today.
