It all began back in 1989! Grandmother Moon Lodge brought women from all across the country who needed to find the teachings, ceremonies and healing that they had been so disconnected from!

Years ago, Walter Chomichuk read a story he never forgot.

It was about a man experiencing homelessness who found an empty refrigerator box, dragged it under the Disraeli Bridge, and turned it into shelter from the wind and rain. As Walter recalls, the man instantly became "the king of the homeless under the bridge" because everyone else was sleeping under wet blankets.

That story changed the way Walter thought about homelessness. It also inspired him to take action.

Over the years, Walter became a dedicated supporter of Siloam Mission. More recently, he donated a duplex that now provides a safe, stable home for two families in Winnipeg.

Our amazing crew at Mother Earth Construction makes us so incredibly proud as they are putting the final touches on the women’s cabins ( footage from early last week)!

Their dedication to themselves and to building the village over these last few years is amazing! They have spent long days driving to the land every day to build everything that the village is today from the ground up with the mentorship of Parkwest Projects! The Longhouse, the Elders Cabin, a garage and women’s cabins! Congratulations to our incredible crew who just poured their hearts and skills to building our healing village! What an incredible accomplishment! Danni, Amanda, Jenny, Angel, Amber and Rose, you are legendary! We love you!❤️🦅🙏🏼

Indigenous led solutions providing a pathway to long term healing programs that move beyond crisis intervention.

Here we are in the midst of a toxic drug crisis, escalating poverty and rates of homelessness, and Indigenous women and two-spirit relatives who continue to suffer the effects of colonization, residential schools and the Indian Act where EVERYTHING was taken away from them! Their land, their children, their traditions and spiritual ceremonies, languages, names and most of all their spirits!

Clan Mothers Healing Village recognizes that systems are yet to continue to fail our people!

By returning back to our original systems of mother led community living and governance, we are reawakening the true spirits to who they are as Indigenous women and two-spirit relatives! Where a safe, nurturing space to breathe with land based healing and skills based training that leads to employment opportunities within our social enterprise is finally an option that provides hope and a pathway to sustainable futures!
