The Lowdown =
We have a dog trip happening this weekend. Alberta to Vancouver Island.
Finally Dulce has a foster placement in Kelowna and Bonnie has an adoption trial in Coastal BC.
Gino is getting surrendered and no placement yet found and we are processing applications in the hope of finding a good spot for Wanda, Marian and Martin too....in BC or Alberta.

☆Welcome Paula M to our Catemaco shelter. She is helping us out a few hours a day.She is also very much a rescuer in her own right☆

“To love a rescuer you must love all of her. You must love the scars covering her body from panicked and hurt animals she was trying to help. You must love her fractured heart, that has been broken so many times she no longer even takes the time to mend the pieces.

To love a rescuer, you must embrace her grit and determination, and know that although she fights a war she can never win, she can and does win a few battles. You must love the tears she will shed over those she lost. You must give her comfort that she refuses to accept, as she blames herself for things she could have never foreseen.

To love a rescuer you must acknowledge the rage she feels towards the world at times, and know that anger is driven by a love of life too few have. You must give her space and room to cry and mourn for the losses that others have caused out of carelessness or cruelty.

To love a rescuer you must understand her passion to heal and save is a calling, not a choice. You must accept that to save animals is part of her soul and without that she could never be happy.

To love a rescuer you must be patient. You must accept her work comes first. She will forgo sleep, forgo food, forgo her life for animals in need. She will work tirelessly until her body and mind fail her completely and she cannot go on.

To Love a rescuer, you must be strong. You must not be threatened by her focus and love of animals. You must accept that the things you love about her, the strength and convictions and loyalty are also what drives her sense of duty to animals in need; you cannot have one without the other.

To love a rescuer you must never ask her to choose, because she will, and it will not be you. “

DISCOVERED IN BUSHES NEAR A PIG FARM RECENTLY

Fiona Ixchel's puppies need sponsoring until adoption[ she's the mother dog]

These Living creatures need milk powder, wet food and kibble and a whole lot of p*e pads....
Already the vet visit was expensive.
Monthly sponsorship other pups have had makes caring for strays in bad situations a possibility.

A full monthly sponsorship is $50 for a pup

The FDC Education Committee is seeing a lot of money flying out this week to pay for registrations etc . The Committee very much needs more members and sponsor support.
A one off donation by Etransfer or Paypal to [email protected] [ an account managed by Tannis and Justin] could make a massive difference to this essential program which supports the education of our young rescue workers♡ It is separate and apart from funds donated to dogs and is very grassroots.

🙏 The young people who have been caring for and protecting shelter animals and running spay events in 2026 need your support to stay in school.

Welcome Puppies of Fiona Ixchel [ Their Mama and so therefore their " Queen"]

Fiona Ixchel's stray puppies need names today! [ fb post in progress.
Only the sandy beige one🐶 is female and Nancy at the clinic. All the rest are boys🐕‍🦺🦮🐕🐕‍🦺.
These were covered in flies in bush near where Cande Bustamante feeds her Auntie's pigs.

Please suggest names under each photo before we name them after all The S*x Pistols!!!?🤪

Jack needs us all to have his back 🫂

" MAKE A WISH" WEDNESDAY:

JACK NEEDS *YOUR * HELP TO LIVE AND THRIVE

Jack is a FOSTER dog in Victoria, BC and he needs some help today.
He is in Canada from Catemaco, Mexico because here he has access to more of a diversity of professional walking aids. We are hoping that he can get, in Canada, the foreleg surgery he needed in Mexico. This would change his life.
Alternatively a special prothesis made on Vancouver Island which could turn him into a normal wheelchair dog instead of a 4 wheel dog.
We also want to know if his back legs atrophied owing to lack of walking because of the foreleg or owing to a spinal injury. So we need answers so he can get what he needs.
We know it is a lot of resources for one dog.
However he has such an enthusiasm for life and his foster family has worked wonders with the footless dog, Biscuit and wheelchair roller car victim, Hugo.
Using the assistance of aids to mobility these sweet tragic road victims do live normal lives now in Victoria, BC.

So please help us help Jack?

Today the vet clinic payment is our focus~ consultation and new X rays ....and then, depending on surgery or prothesis, we will better know if money needs to be directed to Jacks vet or towards another professional, for example the person building a prothesis for this sweet boy.

Today is really really important and what with the Fiona Ixchel puppies and Lucecita hit by a car at the weekend, plus regular shelter costs, we find ourselves struggling to cover everything.

Fundraising for different things is how we have collectively helped thousands of dogs in North American countries over 9.5 years of dedicated service.
