was an important opportunity to strengthen relationships, expand our network, and showcase Vancouver Island South as a global production destination.

Thank you to our sponsors for ensuring our presence at the Marche du Film and Global Production Awards so that we could represent our region in the Emerging Location category. While we didn’t bring home the award this year, we’re returning home with valuable industry connections, new insight, and a stronger roadmap for future success.

We are so proud of the people and organizations that make our region strong and we’re excited to continue building opportunities for Vancouver Island South’s creative economy!

We were pleased to welcome MP Will Greaves to the set of ’s SIDELINED 3 here in Victoria. The project is the third movie of the trilogy shot in the Capital Regional District for Tubi based on the popular books by Tay Marley.

Interesting sidenote: this film project is among the first in Canada to pilot a new green production standard under development by sustainability organisation Producing for the Planet.

Southern Vancouver Island’s film sector continues to be an important driver of regional prosperity and reinforces BC and Canada’s reputation as a film-friendly hub of creativity and innovation. And we were recently named as a finalist in the Emerging Location category at the upcoming Global Production Awards in Cannes, France.

Next time you’re in Ottawa MP Greaves, feel free to let them know that our region is on the rise! Thank you for your support and for visiting us on set.

Shot on and premiering at the , this film is already making its mark.

In , Damon Wise calls it an “instant cult classic” — “a psychedelic tribute to the slasher-horror cycle of the early ’80s that subversively reclaims the genre from the traditional male gaze.”

And according to Gillian Anderson’s Instagram Stories, the film brought her to the Cannes Film Festival for the first time in her illustrious career. 👏

Hats off to everyone who supported this project, including local crew and vendors!
