We're joining charities and organizations across Canada to shine a light on a giving tool that puts more choice and flexibility in your hands: the donor-advised fund (DAF).

A DAF is a dedicated account for charitable giving. You contribute, receive a tax receipt, and recommend gifts to registered charities when you're ready.

If recovery depends on more than one kind of support, why should donors have to choose just one?

Treatment is essential, but so is mental health care, housing, food security, aftercare, and other supports that help people sustain recovery.

That is why Recovery Ecosystem uses a Cause Fund model.
Instead of funding programs in isolation, donations are pooled to support a coordinated system of care. This allows resources to be directed across participating charities and services based on what people actually need throughout their recovery journey.

The Fund is led by an expert panel that brings together charity leaders, people with lived experience, academics, and specialists across addiction, mental health, health care, housing, and food security. Together, they help shape the Fund’s strategy and funding decisions.

For donors, it means you do not have to choose between supporting treatment, housing, mental health care, or another part of recovery. You can support the network that brings them together.

Celebrating summer together, wherever we are. 🌊☀️

Over the summer, our team took time to pause, connect, and enjoy each other’s company outside the usual workday rhythm.

From Canada’s Wonderland to Rocky Point Park to an evening out in Bangalore, these moments gave us space to recharge and spend time with the people who make our work possible.

Purple reminds Nicole German of her daughter, Maddie. 💜

Maddie was outgoing, funny, warm, and full of energy. More than anything, Nicole says, Maddie cared about people.

After Maddie died from depression at age 14, Nicole and her family created The Maddie Project to make Maddie’s wish come true: to do something good for other young people.

What began with donations in Maddie’s memory has grown into a community-led effort supporting youth mental health care, open conversation, and giving in Maddie’s name.

For Nicole, giving is a way to help prevent something she would never want another family to experience.

“I had to sell my only asset to pay for treatment so I could stay alive.”

Finding treatment was difficult enough. But even after making that sacrifice, the support needed to move forward was not connected.
