Join us for 🌟 Intro to Authentic Jazz Dances with Natasha Powell 🌟

Authentic Jazz Dance is a collection of dances created in the African-American communities from the late 1800s through the mid-1900s, set to jazz and swing music. From the Suzy Q to the Charleston, this workshop will explore what it looks and feels like to dance to jazz music and focus on the tips and tools that help bring these moves to life.

COWORKS EXTENSION- Sunday January 11, 2026!!
Why not? We thought we’d give you an extra week - just because. Because we all need a little more time right now: with the cold, the darkness, and the added stress that can come with the holiday season.

Thank you.

To everyone who supported and donated to Moves That Matter — thank you for believing in the work and for helping move dance forward.

Over our 12-Day Giving Campaign, your generosity supported artists, expanded access, strengthened community, sustained venues, and invested in the future of dance.

Together, you moved DanceWorks forward — and helped move our circle wider.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported DanceWorks over the past year: artists, funders, sponsors, partners, and audiences. We couldn’t do this work without you.

Wishing you a season of gratitude and all the best in the year ahead. đź’›

DAY 12: Pay-It-Forward Ticket Day
Share the Gift of Dance

Live performance is a shared moment—where movement becomes meaning and memory. Yet for many, attending a dance performance remains out of reach.

Today, your donation helps someone new walk through the theatre doors—perhaps for the first time. A newcomer finding cultural connection. A young person discovering possibility. A community member feeling welcomed and seen.

Your gift offers more than a ticket.
It offers access, belonging, and opportunity.

Every donation today supports subsidized tickets for those facing financial barriers, ensuring that the stories on stage are witnessed by audiences as diverse and dynamic as our city.

One ticket can spark curiosity, inspiration, and a lifelong connection to the arts.

As we close our 12 Days of Dance, we thank you once again for helping move the circle wider, together.

DAY 11: Signature Series — Venue Day

Dance needs specialized, safe, and accessible space. Venues protect artists’ bodies, support creative risk, and make meaningful audience experiences possible.

Venue costs are one of the greatest barriers for independent artists. Your support helps reduce rental fees, provide rehearsal access, and keep presentation artist-centred.

A donation to venue operations is not overhead—it is impact.
It sustains artists, accessibility, and the spaces where dance lives.

🎭 Today’s donor thank-you:
Attend a technical rehearsal and take a photo on stage.
