Congratulations to all the hardworking interns who made it to the end of this unique internship experience! We would also like to extend our appreciation to all the mentors who helped make the program even more impactful.

As we conclude the 11th iteration of the HAIVE (Hybrid Academia-Industry Internship via Virtual Engagement) program, we would like to share some key moments from the Final Presentation day.

We recently had the chance to sit down and discuss with Jeff Bacchus, Community Engagement & Fund Development Specialist from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto.

‼️ WE INVITE APPLICATIONS FOR THE HELENE MASSAM MEMORIAL AWARD!

We are delighted to announce that applications for the 2025 - 2026 Hélène Massam Memorial Award are now open! This award, which honors the legacy of Professor Hélène Massam, is conferred annually upon a student showcasing outstanding performance in the Society of Actuaries' Exam P.

This year, we would like to bestow this award upon one student from each of the following universities: University of Toronto, York University, McMaster University, Western University, and University of Waterloo. The award recipient's exam P fee will be fully reimbursed.

Professor Hélène Massam was an accomplished statistician. She joined the York University - Department of Mathematics and Statistics in 1984 after obtaining a PhD at McGill University. In 2008, she was named a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics "for contributions to Wishart distributions and to graphical models". Professor Massam worked at York for 35 years. She was deeply appreciated and respected by students as an outstanding mentor and teacher who devoted herself to helping her students achieve high standards.

βœ… Eligibility: All students who passed the SOA's Exam P in the period from June 2025 to April 2026 are eligible to apply.
