The Ontario Blind Sports Association (OBSA) plans, promotes, co-ordinates and sanctions events and activities designed to stimulate and assist the further development of sports programs for blind/visually impaired athletes in Ontario. We run a wide range of events, from introductory sport programs to high performance training camps. OBSA is the governing body for the sport of Goalball in Ontario a

nd we are responsible for provincial team selection and the sports development in the province. We also work with several other sports in order to further develop blind sports as a whole in the province. Guide runners supporting OBSA high-performance track athletes may be eligible for funding through the Guide Assistance Program (GAP). The program provides up to $1,000 per guide per year to help offset eligible costs for out-of-town training camps and competitions.

Meet Arvin Carandang: an Ontario athlete taking on an exciting new challenge.

After competing in goalball for Ontario from 2009 to 2019, Arvin began competitive blind rock climbing in 2025. He placed fourth at his first major event, the 2026 Canadian ParaClimbing Nationals in La Prairie, Quebec.

Arvin is raising $2,000 to help offset the costs of future domestic and international competitions, including travel, lodging, registration fees, and equipment.

You can support Arvin’s campaign through the Bike Ride Fundraiser page on the OBSA website.

Every donation helps Arvin continue climbing, competing, and representing Ontario!

Each piece of equipment supports safety, fairness, orientation, and fast-paced competition on the court. OBSA members can also access equipment rentals, making it easier to try blind sports and participate in programs across Ontario.
