Come show your team spirit this summer in North York! ⚽️☀️

North York Arts in collaboration with Reel Asian invites community members of all ages to join us for the City Summer Soccer Celebration, a three‑day series of arts and culture activations inspired by the global excitement of the soccer season.

This non‑consecutive festival brings together local artists, partners, and neighbours for creative experiences that blend sport, storytelling, and community pride.

⭐️ Gibson House Museum - June 13th and 27th

🎨 NYA will host three different local artists each day at the Gibson House Museum. Visitors of all ages can drop-in to enjoy soccer‐themed art activities to take home such as:

🎏 Flag Making
⚽ Soccer Ball Keychain Making
👕 Jersey Decoration
🎨 Watercolour Painting Station
🖌 Acrylic Painting Station
✨ Soccer Doll Crafting

🎥 Reel Asian will be showcasing a curated screening of short films by local artists and The
Animation Project participants inside Gibson House.

⭐️ Mel Lastman Square - June 20th

North York Arts and Reel Asian are partnering with Yonge North York BIA to present a special,
free community event to celebrate the festivities of the soccer season.

🎥 Watch a community outdoor screening of the beloved film "Bend It Like Beckham."
⚽ Join the community in watching the live soccer match between Germany and Ivory Coast.
🎨 Get creative and show your team spirit by getting hands-on in a variety of free,
soccer-themed art activations.
🍿 Family DJ show, inflatable bouncers and much more!

This event brings arts, sport, and storytelling together to celebrate cultural identity, teamwork,
and power of representation on and off the field.

Bring your friends and family along for the festivities of the soccer season. We can't wait to see
you there! 😎⚽️

The Soccer City Celebration is supported by the City of Toronto, Yonge North York, and Reel Asian.

Come with our team to visit the Toronto Botanical Garden!🌱☀️

The last time our team was at the Toronto Botanical Garden was in 2025, when our summer staff came to host an art activity booth during the Edwards Summer Music Series.🎷🎨

Like us, you may have already visited the Toronto Botanical Garden before in North York.

But this time, we want to highlight the other amazing things they have to offer the community!

Along with free general admission to explore the garden grounds and trails, you can find different events and creative programs to attend at the Toronto Botanical Garden.

These events and programs connect community with creative and ecology-based learning, and you can check out how to participate in what they have planned on their website or .

During your visit this summer you can also check out the art installation, "Solstice," made by the Toronto Metropolitan University's department of Architectural Science.

North York is full of creative activities and art, even when you don't expect it. And that's what we want to show you this summer!

We'll see you at our next stop in North York! 😎

Come with us on an art walk around the YZD Experience Centre!🎨

Over the years, North York Arts has taken part in different programs and events at YZD, so it has become a place close to our hearts.

And so we wanted to showcase some of the community art at YZD that you can visit (for free!) during the summer.☀️

You can participate in a self-guided art walk tour around the YZD building, where 8 large-scale murals are featured, each with a lovely artist statement that speaks on their intention and additional resources.

Our team got caught in the cold and rain during our visit, so we hope you can have a chance to complete the full art walk and visit all 8 murals when the sun is out (we were able to visit 6/8)! 😎🖼️

YZD has lots of programs and events in store for the summer, so you can check out their website or head over to YZD Toronto to see what they have coming up next!

Downsview Park is a place we have many memories with at North York Arts, and we wanted to showcase one of the cool local art spots you can see in the area!✨

Along the side of the Downsview Park Farmers' Market (📍40 Carl Hall Rd), there is a 360 foot long, public mural called, "ALLSTYLE" (2021-2022).

The mural is a collaborative effort of 9 BIPOC artists who each brought their own distinctive styles into one large work for the community.

The convergence of different art styles in one large space is a reflection of unity, while each artists' individual works connect back to themes including cultural identity, strength and heritage.

Each part of the mural expresses a unique story and vision that can only be taken in fully when you are standing in front of it.

If you ever have a chance, take a moment to look at all the cool pieces that make up this massive community mural 🧡🖼🖌!

NOTE: Keep in mind that since the mural is located by Downsview Park's film and television studios, it can sometimes be covered by large vehicles!

Recap on our 15th Anniversary and DJ Workshop Community Celebration! 🥳✨

On April 22nd, our team spent the evening at the Meridian Arts Centre with many new and familiar faces from across our community to celebrate, connect back with NYA's legacy and learn about the art of DJing.

🎧 We got to have a look into the history of DJing and groove to some beats thanks to DJ Elegance / Love Music Initiative Canada, his fellow students and workshop participants.

🌱 Our special 15th anniversary graphic, made by artist Bree Jiang, was unveiled, along with a reflection on its inspiration and connection to NYA's past, present and future.

🌟 We had a visit from Lily Cheng, City Councillor of Willowdale who gave some congratulatory wishes on our 15 years of community.

And last but least, from pizza, photobooth sessions, and lots of laughs, we are grateful for everyone who took time out of their day to celebrate with us. 🧡

A special thank you to everyone who helped make our 15th Anniversary Celebration possible: TO Live, Love Music Initiative, and Charitable Gaming x Rama Gaming House.

We can't wait until next time!
